Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Oh, What A Day That Day Will Be!!!

LIFE & DEATH.

We know it occurs.  We also know it will occur when we least expect it to happen, (or, at least that may be the best plan–not knowing when).

BUT….

What if we could know? &

What if we could plan for our special (death) day, would we like to know, to plan? &

What if we could know that we did not need to plan BECAUSE we could receive a Way to escape ever dying?

Would we be interested in hearing more?

BIRTH—We love to celebrate our birth—date. That’s a really special day of celebration, but do we ever go to parties that celebrate a person’s death date?

Two years ago, in March 2019, our family experienced much death. As we walked through that season of life, oftentimes, others would say with great sincerity, “I am so sorry,” and we knew they truly were saddened by all the loss we were experiencing. That year, what seemed like one loss followed by another, followed by another, followed by another………..(since) that March, I have now placed a marker on my calendar.

On the first day of March, when my phone calendar turns to the new month, I do not immediately see March 3rd (Curtis’ birthday and Grandma’s death day); instead I see these words—–“March to Celebrate New Life.”

LIFE & DEATH

The Morbid thinkers say, “The day we were born is the day we began to die.”

The Hopeful thinkers say, “I plan to live forever.”

The Realistic thinker calls out, “You know, all people die.”

The Pragmatic thinker proclaims, “All die.  Therefore, get healthy, remain healthy, and prolong that day of death.”

YET, the Spiritual Believer looks at death differently. The Spiritual Believer knows the truth, and proclaims, “I am alive in Christ Jesus,” because in knowing this truth, the Spiritual Believer knows (for a fact) that he has been set free and escaped death. The Spiritual Believer knows (for a fact) that he will walk forevermore in Newness of Life ONLY because Jesus conquered death on the cross and rose to new life. The Spiritual Believer knows (for a fact) that Acceptance of that fact, Belief in Jesus’ Saving Grace, and Confession of our sins ensures (for a fact) Eternal Life.

DEATH. Now someone may ask, “How in the world can a person ever escape death?”
LIFE. Maybe the better question is—–“How LONG do we hope to LIVE?” A Wonderful Question, & a Spiritual Question that has a perfect plan & a perfect answer. JESUS.

Death and Life. Life and Death.

A thought came to me today, words rattling around in my brain that make me wonder——Could it be possible for a person born NOW to live to be three digits, to the ripe old age of one hundred and fifty years of age?

100.  103.  114.  126.  134.  150. one hundred and fifty years??? Is that now Possible with medical science? Is that now Probable? Is that now Attainable (even now more than ever before)?

Scientists tell us that Longevity of life becomes more possible each year.  The person who will live to age 150 has already been born. So IF a baby born in 2020, during the height of the pandemic, IS now alive, & IF that baby is THE BABY who will be the one to reach the age of 150, THEN that baby will live to young adulthood, enter middle life, and then enter the third-third season of life——-only to live to reach the old age of 150 (sometime during the year 2170 (2020 + 150 = 2170), when that person will celebrate his 150th birthday).

The 22nd Century (the 2100s) may very well produce longevity of LIFE.

Medically speaking, that could now be quite possible.

Economically speaking, that may now be quite probable.

Spiritually speaking, that may just very well now bring deep sadness because (if we were to live until the age of 150) then we would quite assuredly only prolong the day until we see Jesus face-to-face?

Would a believer ever desire that——to prolong the day we see Jesus face-to-face?

Do we wish to reach our “going home date,” and say, “Hold up God, I think I want to stay here (on earth) for a little longer and prolong seeing You.”

For the believers, that’s just crazy thinking—-To Want To Prolong, To Wish To Stay Here—To Desire Not Seeing Our Savior Face-To-Face—To Seek To Prolong Seeing Our LORD.

Yes, for a Christian, for one who believes, for one who expectantly awaits for that day to arrive——-Well, that’s just not what we hope for——-to prolong our going home date.  Maybe we don’t want to hasten the day of our earthly death. True. But, we truly do NOT wish to prolong our “going home” day when we will see our LORD.  Yes, Truly, we do NOT wish to prolong the day we will bow at Jesus’ feet and exclaim our total adoration.  Yes, Truly, we do NOT wish for our “going home” date to NEVER arrive!!! Never would we EVER wish for our “going home to heaven” date to NEVER come. MOST ASSUREDLY NOT.

Believers (those people who have accepted Jesus as Savior) eagerly await for the day they will go home to heaven.

Believers (those people who have accepted Jesus as Savior) know that our citizenship is not here on earth, but in heaven.

So, We watch for our LORD. &

We witness to others as we wait. &

We joyfully celebrate Easter, the day Jesus conquered death & rose to new life.

As Believers, we look forward to That Day——the day we no longer live on earth as aliens, as strangers, as sojourners, and we excitedly await the day we will take up residence in our true HOME……..Our Home in HEAVEN.

That Day, our Traveling Home Day. On That Day, our citizenship in heaven will remain forever where we will live forever because we will forever BE in the presence of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.

Oh, what a great reunion day that will be!!! Oh, What A Day That Day Will Be…..When Jesus We Shall See!!!

To put it into perspective, in the Bible, the apostle Paul wrote to the believers at Philippi these words that are so applicable still today.

“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the LORD Jesus Christ; Who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself” (Philippians 3: 20-21).

Oh, What A Day THAT DAY Will Be…..When Jesus We Shall See!!!

Our Going Home Day. Yes, the DAY we will See JESUS face-to-face.

  1. what a glorious day that will be. today i am saddened to learn that a young man i know may have died without having accepted Christ. i failed to ever witness to him the few times we ran across each other. if he failed to accept Jesus, what a horrible death it was.

    1. It is these persons (those we have not witnessed to) who remain with us, & it is these persons (who we should remember) as we live on to witness to others we meet—–Every Day testifying for Jesus.
