That which cannot be Shaken, Lost, Altered, nor Taken
Jesus did not just come to earth to save humanity for a day to come (as in for a future heaven). That’s right. Jesus came to save men, women, and children for a future in heaven but also for THIS DAY, RIGHT NOW. You see, once a person has given his heart to Jesus, then he belongs to an unshaken kingdom, one that exists in the past, in the present, and one that will exist into the future forevermore. That’s what the believers belong to once they give their hearts to Jesus.
Contrast what believers in Jesus have received with the universe in which they must live. Earthquakes, tornadoes, storms, relationships, health, careers, homes, and all possible education can be shaken, dissolve, and crumble. However, the Kingdom of God—cannot.
“See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven.
(The Letter to the Hebrews 12: 25-27 NASB)
And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying,
‘YET ONCE MORE I WILL SHAKE NOT ONLY THE EARTH, BUT ALSO THE HEAVEN.”
This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.”
The world may arise from their slumber to notice that their body has changed in the night. Now they must call the physician. OR
The parent may arise in the middle of the night to the cries of their baby, and as they rush into the child’s room, the parents suddenly realize that something terrible has occurred. OR
The employee may go into work as usual only to be met at their desk by the outstretched hand of their employer handing to them a notice that the company is downsizing, meaning that the job security that was once felt is suddenly lost. OR
The homeowner may leave his house, secure in the fact that all will be well when he returns, only to receive a call that his possession, his home, is ablaze with a fire. By the time he returns home, the house is a total loss. OR
The loved one who has shared space with another at the dinner table dies without what seems as no warning, and now the dinner table seems so empty.
- The world in which humanity resides can be SHAKEN.
- The homes where people live can be LOST.
- The health individuals rely upon can become ALTERED.
- The steadiness of life people enjoy can suddenly and horribly be TAKEN.
BUT PRAISE GOD, even when everything becomes unbearably hard—THE KINGDOM OF GOD REMAINS.
ONE’S SALVATION CANNOT EVER BE SHAKEN, LOST, ALTERED, NOR TAKEN.
“Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.”
(The Letter to the Hebrews 12: 28-29 NASB)
