Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

More Than We Can See!

“Whom have I in heaven but You?
And besides You, I desire nothing on earth.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
For, behold, those who are far from You will perish;
You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to You.
But as for me, the nearness of God is my good;
I have made the Lord GOD my refuge,
That I may tell of all Your works.”

(The Psalms 73: 25-28 NASB)

When you opened your eyes this morning, what did you first see?

Dark.  Yes, I know.

Maybe a digital clock silently screaming, “It is time to arise.”

Yes, I know, and I feel your pain.

Still, I wonder:  When you opened your eyes this morning, what did you first see?

  • Did we see the warmth of our home and our bed?
  • Did we see the security and provision found through our job?
  • Did we see the humor found in the quirkiness of this thing we call ‘Life’?
  • Did we see the truth that the Lord is doing more than we can see (with our earthly eyes)?

No, we may have not because truly, we are such carnal beings who only see black and white.

  • We felt the warmth of our bed and instead thought, “Oh, God, please don’t let it already be morning.

OR

  • We saw the alarm clock glare in the dark and maybe thought, “Oh, Lord, how can it already be morning?  I barely slept.”

OR

  • We see the people in our lives that quickly come to mind and ponder the truth:  “Oh my, what quirky friends and family You have given me, God.”

OR

  • We see God.  Yes, God. & Despite the way we feel, & Despite the way we wish to snuggle into our cocoon & Despite this ‘odd’ thing we call ‘MY LIFE,’ we acknowledge God’s presence in our hearts, and we find ourselves whispering—

“Thank You, God, for coming after such a messed-up person, an undeserving sinner such as me.  God, I am so thankful, yes, grateful, Lord, that You came after me.”

“Whom have I in heaven but You?

And besides You, I desire nothing on earth.” (The Psalms 73: 25 NASB)

Quite true, the Lord wants us to realize HIS TRUTH.

& also—

“My flesh and my heart may fail,

But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

For, behold, those who are far from You will perish;

You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to You.” (The Psalms 73: 26-27 NASB)

& most assuredly, also—

“But as for me, the nearness of God is my good;

I have made the Lord GOD my refuge,

That I may tell of all Your works.” (The Psalms 73: 28 NASB)

It is 100% true, the person we are on the inside is being renewed every day by the Father through His Holy Spirit.  Day-by-Day, this is an on-going endeavor.  Lest we never forget:  God is at work, perhaps more so now than any other time in our lives, working in our church body, moving within the ministry He has given to us, and within the ministries that are most-dear to our lives.  It is for sure; the Lord is doing—More Than We Can See!

Even during the apostle Paul’s day, the believers living in Corinth struggled, and quite possibly, that is why he penned to them two letters of encouragement, acknowledgment, and admonishment.  Yes, maybe for this reason of living what we so appropriately call ‘life,’ Paul wrote—

“Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.
For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,
while we
look NOT at the things which are seen, but at the things which are NOT SEEN; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are NOT SEEN ARE ETERNAL.”

(The 2nd Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 4: 16-18 NASB)

As a teacher, I often ask the question:  ‘If you agree, raise your hand.’

Today, I ask the same.

Many, many hands should be lifted up into the air above our heads, because we who have been called, who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord KNOW THE TRUTH—THIS IS NOT OUR ETERNAL RESTING PLACE, this place we currently call home.

This means—

  • Our bodily pains.
  • Our head desires for change.
  • Our struggles.
  • Our unmet wishes.
  • Our prayers that seem to be stalled.

Have not been ignored by the Lord, but are being heard, are being answered, and are being spoken to God Himself by Jesus, our mediator—even as we sit here in this place we call ‘life’ and do not see with our earthly eyes.  May we never stop praying & seeking God’s will.

The fact remains:  God is at work!

Yes, that is right.

The Lord is doing—More Than We Can See!

The Bible says so, & we are called to believe EVERY WORD!

E-V-E-R-Y WORD!

For, we know the Truth;  God our Father never sleeps, never tires, never gives up, and never stops moving, even when every part of what we hope for seems to be at a standstill.

How we Live; How we Pray; How we Worship; How we Walk through our Days & How we Serve—Reflects who Christ Jesus truly is to us!

  • May we praise our heavenly Father!
  • May we praise our Savior!
  • May we praise the Holy Spirit who was given to us from the moment we believed!
  • May we praise our Creator, Savior, Sustainer, Redeemer, & Lord!
  • May we praise Him aloud so that the surrounding world can hear!  &
  • May we serve where the Lord has placed us to serve Him this day!
  • His Hands & His Mouth & His Words—May the world see Jesus through us—this day!

Christian Brothers & Sisters, we must not lose heart, for Christ Jesus is being formed in us, who have believed.  The Word tells us that He is doing this through the Holy Spirit.

  • Let us learn all we can from the godly and wise people who God has placed within our life-path.
  • Let us never forget—Heaven is but a blink away from where we lie, sit, and stand.

Quite possibly, the melody by the David Crowder Band should be lyrics that we need to hear today, as “How He Loves” plays into our hearts.

Have a grand day, all, and may we hold onto the TRUTH we read in God’s Holy Word

“When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Colossians 3: 4 NASB)
