A walk through life toward eternity

Do We Trust God—TO BE WHO HE SAYS HE IS?

The ‘gods’ we see in the world are everywhere (our hobbies, our careers, our children, our spouses, our talents, our skills, our relationships, our social media accounts, our personal image within society—all our loves).  So many worldly ‘gods’ compete for our attention.

Ancient Egyptians were not really that different from us when God’s children were held in captivity.  That’s when God called a man to lead the children of God out of captivity and into God’s Promise Land.

Yet, first, God needed to get the attention of the man in charge of the people—Pharoah.  He was a hard-hearted man, an unforgiving man, and a man who said one thing, made a promise, and then reneged on his word.

“Then the LORD said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their streams, and over their pools, and over all their reservoirs of water, that they may become blood; and there will be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.’ “

So Moses and Aaron did even as the LORD had commanded.

[Child of God, did we see that—They did as God told them to do.]

And he lifted up the staff and struck the water that was in the Nile, in the sight of Pharoah and in the sight of his servants,

[Child of God, did we see that—When God moves, people take notice at the work of the LORD.]

and all the water that was in the Nile was turned to blood.

  • The fish that were in the Nile died,
  • and the Nile became foul,
  • so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile.
  • And the blood was through all the land of Egypt.

[Child of God, did we see that—What we place before God and say to ourselves, “This is my source of life” we have established a ‘god.’]

But the magicians of Egypt did the same with their secret arts;

and Pharoah’s heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as the LORD had said.

Then Pharoah turned and went into his house with no concern even for this.”

(Exodus 7: 19-23 NASB)
  • The Ancient Egyptians worshipped the ‘god’ of the Nile River.
  • They thought the river was sacred because it was the source of life.
  • We are not told within the Bible if any of the Egyptians were Believers in GOD.
  • The people’s earthly magicians could also do the same action as Moses, the man of God.
  • Thus, Pharaoh, their leader considered how this action of the changing the Nile to blood was not from ALMIGHTY GOD, as Moses proclaimed. Therefore, Pharaoh turned his back, unconcerned for those who were under his care.
  • Still today, some people will not believe the MIGHTY WORKS of GOD & will turn their backs from the TRUTH of the GOSPEL.
  • NEVERTHELESS, WE MUST NEVER CEASE IN SHARING OUR TESTIMONY & TESTIFYING TO THE WORLD OF THE TRUTH—GOD IS EXACTLY WHO HE SAYS HE IS!

In the Ancient Egyptian world, more impressive than changing water to blood would have been the magicians performing the magic trick of changing the bloody water into clean, drinking water.  However, the magicians could not use their secret magic to do that.  They could not do what they had no power to do.

They could only mimic Almighty God.

Jehovah God was not impressed & our LORD was not surprised by the actions of peoplefor Creator God knows the hearts of His creation!

“and Pharoah’s heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as the LORD had said.”

(Exodus 7: 22b NASB)

Unlike the leader Pharaoh who was unconcerned, even when his people’s “source of life” was contaminated, unusable, and vile—Jehovah Jireh, our provider, knows exactly what we need, & HE PROVIDES US WHAT WE NEED!

When people think they’re going to die, they call on God; they bow their heads and pray.  Then when God moves the mountains, heals the sick, restores the land, and does what ONLY HE CAN DO—saving people from sure death & providing the ONLY TRUE SOURCE OF LIFE!

Let us not be a people who forgets about Omnipotent Jehovah God!

God’s prophet Hosea knew this truth & she knew the answer to this question:

Do We Trust God—TO BE WHO HE SAYS HE IS?

  • From God’s Holy Word, we can understand the Faithfulness of Jehovah God.
  • From God’s creation (the sunrise), we can understand the Promises of the LORD.
  • From God’s Truth, we can understand how God meets us right where we are & He saves us!

“So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD.
His going forth is as certain as the dawn;
And He will come to us like the rain,
Like the spring rain watering the earth.”

(Hosea 6: 3 NASB)

May we not be enticed to—

Find our source of power in things, in people, in anything other than OUR FATHER!

May we be striving to—

Walk with, press in on, and know OUR FATHER!

May we realize how—

The worldly ‘gods’ we are prone to follow are just that—earthly & inferior & temporary but OUR FATHER faithfully remains—Godly & Trustworthy & Everlasting!

  • MAY WE FULLY TRUST GOD!
  • MAY WE ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT GOD IS WHO HE SAYS HE IS!
  • MAY WE BE GUIDED DAILY BY GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT!
  • MAY WE TESTIFY, SHARING OUR WITNESS WITH THOSE WITH OUT HOPESHOWING HOW THE POWER OF GOD CHANGES PEOPLE!

May we proclaim to the world—

OUR GOD IS WHO HE SAYS HE IS!
