A walk through life toward eternity

May We Experience God’s Best for Our Lives

“Now Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho.  And the LORD showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan,
and all Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah as far as the western sea,
[as far as the Mediterranean Sea]
and the Negev and the territory in the Valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar.”

(Deuteronomy 34: 1-3 NASB)

It’s so difficult to see into the future.  Surely, Moses struggled just as we do.  Here was a man God had used mightily, a man God had used despite Moses’ weakness of speech, and a man God had used even though Moses had to take a stand against those who had raised him from the time he was a baby placed in the bulrushes.

Surely, Moses had some difficulties to overcome; yet the end of his life must have been one of the most difficult heartbreaks.  Here was the man who had led the people of his heritage to the edge of the promised land, and here was the man who was only allowed to see the land from a distance and not allowed to step onto the Promised Land.

Just imagine what that land must have looked like to Moses!

  • When he turned one direction, he saw the plains all the way to the top of the mountain.
  • When he turned a second direction, he saw the great city on the other side of the river.
  • When he turned again, he saw all the land, as far as the eye can see. &
  • When he turned in the final direction of the four directions, he saw the valley that seemed to lead to the city of palms.

In every direction we turn, oftentimes we see the “what could have been,” and yet, sometimes, like Moses, we stand, looking only and not stepping into that which God has promised and directed us to.  I wonder:  Why is that?

For the answer, let us read the words the LORD spoke to His prophet Moses.

“Then the LORD said to him, [to Moses] “This is the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants’;  I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not go over there.”
“So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, in accordance with the word of the LORD.
And He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor;  but no one knows his burial place to this day.”

(Deuteronomy 34: 4-6 NASB)
  • Moses knew his heritage;  it was a heritage of faith.
  • Moses knew his family;  it was a family of faith.
  • Moses knew his God;  He was a God of Truth!

Moses knew his sin;  he understood why he could not go in but was only allowed to look.

“I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not go over there.”

  • Do we know what God has for our lives?
  • Do we see the “what could be” but still remain on the outside, only looking?

Do we trust God with all of our heart or only just a part of our heart?

  • Are we allowing the LORD to empower us from within, to establish HIS will for our lives?
  • Are we seeking the LORD but feel as if HE is so far away from our lives?
  • Will we allow the KING of kings to have his way?

Will we give GOD the space to change us from within, to transform our hearts?

God will take care of us, even as He did with Moses.  Even though HIS servant had sinned and was not allowed to step into the Promised Land, still the LORD allowed HIS prophet to see with his earthly eyes a sight that would be impossible, except through the power of God.  Although Moses realized his death was imminent, still the LORD allowed him to see the land where his people would step into after his death.  Undoubtedly, Moses did not realize just how much God loved him, and maybe Moses did not fully understand that God would take care of him until the very end.

  • The End—the final day of Moses’ life was shared with the LORD there on top of the mountain.
  • The End—the final day of Moses’ life was spent there, seeing what GOD wanted him to see.
  • The End—the final day of Moses’ life was also the day ALMIGHTY GOD took care of Moses,

“And He buried him [there] in the valley in the land of Moab, . . .” in a hidden place, one only God still knows today. The LORD is a synonym for JESUS who said:  “and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28: 20b NASB)

God’s hand moves upon us, just as it did upon Joseph and upon Moses and upon so many.

We may experience suffering within our lives, just as missionaries, servants, and prophets do.

God promises to be there—in our midst—even though we suffer and walk through difficult times.

  • May We Follow our LORD!
  • May We Experience God’s Best for Our Lives!
  • May We Begin Today!
  • May We See the LORD face-to-face!
  • May We Remember How It Is the LORD GOD who sustains us, keeps us, helps us, and who empowers us!
  • May We Open Our Eyes & May We Open Our Lives to HIM!
  • May We Seek God With All Our Heart, Our Mind, Our Strength, & Our Spirit—even when we cannot seem to find Him!
  • May We Look With Our Eyes of Faith!
  • May We Study God’s Word, Pray, Fast, Worship & Experience God!
  • May We Receive All That God Has For Us To Receive!
  • May We See That God Is There, That He Has Never Moved Away From Us!

“Since that time no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,
for all the signs and wonders which the LORD sent him to perform in the land of Egypt against Pharoah, all his servants, and all his land—
and for all the mighty power and all the great terror which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.”

(Deuteronomy 34: 10-12 NASB)
