Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Whose We Are Depends MORE on HIM Than On Us—MORE on GOD Than On Us!

Whose are you?

From whom do you come?

Who is your daddy?

Is your family from around here?

Are your planted “here” by choice or by capture?

Would you stay in this place where you reside if you knew you could leave?

Today I wonder an important question—Why are we living in the place where we are existing?

Today I wonder—Would we move if we could—move?

That’s right.  Would we leave “this place” (wherever we are—right now) IF WE REALIZED THAT WE COULD—ACTUALLY LEAVE?

That’s right.  Would we stay here in “this place” (where we exist—right at this season of our life) IF WE REALIZED THAT WE COULD CHOOSE TO LEAVE—OR—DECIDE TO STAY—OR—EVEN DECIDE TO RETURN?

Feeling insignificant?

Feeling unsure of your calling?

Share time meditating on your true identity.

Stay there.  Focused on “whose” you are—in God.

“For you are a holy people to the LORD your God;  [of all the people on the earth] the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession [for His own special treasure] out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples,

but because the LORD loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your forefathers, the LORD brought you out by the mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

but repays those who hate Him to their faces, to destroy them;  He will not delay with him who hates Him,  He will repay him to his face.”

(Deuteronomy 7: 6-10)

God keeps His promises.

God provided the only way to Him.

The LORD set His love on you, on me, because He is faithful.

Unique.  Holy.  Hand-Picked.  Chosen.  God’s children.  God’s!

Peter calls the church of Jesus Christ a “holy people.”

That’s us.  You.  Me.  Believers.  God’s Children.  Christians!

We are His!  Our “true” identity rests in HIM!

Brennan Manning said it this way—“Our identity rests in God’s relentless tenderness for us revealed in Jesus Christ.”

We need to remind ourselves of the many ways God works in our lives.

We are obedient.  We listen to Him.  We follow His Holy Spirit.  We live out His commandments.

God works through us.

God answers prayers.

The more we see Him at work in our lives, then the more evident we see how we can totally trust Him.

The more we seek to bring others to worship with us, the more others can begin to see Him.

It is so important that we trust God—totally!

It is so important that we obey God—faithfully!

It is so important that we seek God—daily!

It is so important that we praise God—continually!

God is God.

It is God who answers.

It is God who is always with us.

It is God who leads us to share our lives with people He places within our lives.

It is God who we must celebrate!

It is God who helps us in our distress.

It is God who hears our prayers.

It is God who demands that we leave, yes, turn away from the earthly idols we may have created, and turn toward, turn to fully face Him.

We are God’s chosen.

He is with us wherever we go.

We don’t need a building to remind us that we are His.

We need to keep our eyes upon Him to remember this truth!

God deserves our full devotion, our unwavering heart, and total life!

Whose We Are Depends MORE on HIM Than On Us—MORE on GOD Than On Us!

In the New Testament, the Apostle Peter calls believers “holy & acceptable, a chosen people.”

In the Old Testament, God tells Jacob to tell the people, to remind them of WHOSE they are to HIM.

SEE WITH ME GOD’S WORD.

“Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and live there, and make an alter there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

“So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods which are among you, and purify yourselves and change your garments;

And let us arise and go up to Bethel, and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone.”

(Genesis 35: 1-3)

Whose We Are Depends MORE on HIM Than On Us—MORE on GOD Than On Us!

“But you are a CHOSEN RACE, A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD;  you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.”

(1 Peter 2: 9-10)
