God Uses Us—Our ENTIRE Lives!
Languages are so unique AND so similar.
As we talk with others, with those who do not share our same language but who understand most of the words we speak, there is joy to be found in attempting to pronounce the different words of the different languages. There is also joy in discussing the differing nuances that come with each language. Can we EVER IMAGINE a time and place where the language shared across the world is all the same?!!! That’s exactly how the world was BEFORE God sent Abram and his wife Sarai out from their home. God’s Holy Word reveals this truth!
“Now the whole earth used the same language and the same words. . . .”
“The LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.
Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another’s speech.”
“So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of the whole earth; and they stopped building the city.
Therefore its name was called Babel, because the LORD confused the language of the whole earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of the whole earth.”
(Genesis 11: 1 & 6-9)
As I read the Scripture found in Genesis 11 and 12, I find myself amazed that they were so brave. Consider—
Abram had lived in the same region for seventy-five years.
Abram has a wife, possessions, a nephew & a wife, servants—stuff.
Abram speaks a language, one where he can understand all the words of all the people.
Abram is instructed to leave the place he knows, the place where he has been successful, to gather all his things because he knows returning home will not be an option.
Abram knows the place where he is told to go will contain a “people” different from him, who speak a language “so different” from the language he has spoken for seven and a half decades.
Let’s say we are Abram. Let’s say—You know all this—AND—still you go!
If you know me, then you know my back is not as good as it once was (when I was younger), and now (if you know me), then you may also know that my eyes are doing some weird things, concerning things. Clearly, seeing as well as I once saw is not as easy as—well, not as easy as when I was young. Our bodies are aging. ALL of our BODY PARTS are wearing out over time. That’s a biblical truth. Our bodies were not God-created to last forever. Our skin wrinkles; our eyes grow dim; our steps slow; our bodies hurt; our youthful step disappears—BUT still we walk on, YES!
We cannot stop going just because the “going” has become slower!
We cannot stop doing just because our hands have slowed!
We cannot stop moving just because our eyes see less clearly!
We cannot stop testifying of what God has done & What He is still doing just because our bodies are dying!
WHY?
We cannot BECAUSE the Bible tells us that we are renewed day-by-day-by-day-by-day!
“The God who made us [who created us from the dust] can also remake us.”—Woodrow Kroll
How, an unbeliever might ask. Under the wrinkled skin and inside the slower body resides a NEW HEART, one that ONLY GOD CAN CREATE!
Beneath the graying hair and inside the body that produces new aches as we traverse through life resides a MIND, one that is being TRANSFORMED & RENEWED!
We can take care of our bodies the best that we can, but we can NEVER make our bodies last forever. Abram was an older man when God gave him a new mission. Abram was secure in the place where he resided when the LORD led him to see how he would be made anew.
That’s the power of God!
That’s the will of God!
That’s the purpose of God!
That’s the power of God!
God Uses Us—Our ENTIRE Lives!
Yes, that’s right. Can we pause right there and see that line again?
Jehovah God uses us—people who have come to know Him—throughout our entire earthly lives!
And God will continue to use us until the day He comes to take us home!
God sends us.
Troubles will come. Difficulties will arise. We may fail. We may even stumble in our walk with God, but we are to place our eyes upon Jesus & stand again & walk on—as we are led by HIM.
Let’s Pause Right Here To See The Truth Found In The Scriptures. SEE WITH ME.
“Now the LORD said to Abram,
“Go forth from your country,
And from your relatives
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you;
And I will make you a great nation,
And I will bless you,
And make your name great;
And so you shall be a blessing;
And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse.
And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”
“So Abram went forth as the LORD had spoken to him; and Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.”
(Genesis 12: 1-4)
God Uses Us—Our ENTIRE Lives!
Let us imitate Jesus; Let us be “on HIS mission;” & Let us go WHEREVER HE LEADS US TO GO!
