We Are So small, But God’s Message—SO PROFOUNDLY LARGE!
There are so many questions swirling in our minds as we consider our role in evangelism. Sometimes we look at powerful witnesses with wonder and amazement and even a little bit of envy. We look at “them” and think, “Wow! Why can’t I be like “them”? Then we begin to allow all the questions to rise up in front of us, we get proverbial “cold feet,” and we remain silent about the GREATEST GIFT WE HAVE EVER RECEIVED!
That’s right. We look at our abilities, our “story,” and place in this world, and we begin to second-guess our place, our calling. We allow these questions to take root in our heart—
What if I don’t know what to say?
My story is so O-R-D-I-N-A-R-Y.
What if I can’t remember what passage to use?
What if I say something and we lose our friendship?
Worse even than that—What if they laugh at me?
I don’t—My story—I can’t—I say—Laugh at me. Did we see what was common in each question we allow to take root in our heart? Each question has a me-focus problem when the ANSWER to every QUESTION–Is a God-focus revelation.
Yesterday, I traveled with three young boys to northern Kentucky (Williamstown to be exact) and walked a self-guided tour through a replica of Noah’s Ark. As we drove toward the parking lot, the first thought I encountered was the massive size of the parking lot. There were so many spaces—OPEN—so many unused spaces ready to receive the body of the next car who delivered “persons” to the Ark Encounter—So many unused spaces ready to receive the next vehicles full of individuals.
Then we purchased our tickets, and one of the boys received a gift, one that brought a huge smile to his face—His ticket was FREE. That’s right. I saw his ticket. Where the amount was listed on my ticket and on the ticket of the other two boys, this young man’s ticket listed the amount of $0.00.
With our tickets in hand, we hopped aboard the bus that would take us up the hill to begin our tour. As we road, we fastened our wristbands to our wrists, ensuring that we “belonged,” that we had permission for the day to enter this interactive museum. The ride was a short, 5-minute ride, one that deposited us just outside the rainbow-colored archway—The Rainbow—the reminder of God’s promise given to Noah & to each of us.
There it sat. One word describes—HUGE!
The length was so long; the breadth was so wide; and the height was so high. At the end our journey, before we boarded the bus for our ride back to the parking lot, we asked another man to take our photo in front of the ark. I remember his question—“Do you want the entire ark in the background of the photo?” “Do you want to see the full picture?” “Yes,” I replied.
As we looked at the photo, the smallness of our bodies was so small in comparison to the MASSIVE SIZE of the Ark, of God’s directive to Noah.
Oftentimes we are so hesitant to share Jesus because we fear that we won’t know what to say, that we will be ridiculed, that we will lose relationships, or that we will get “it” all wrong and lead someone all wrong.
WHAT IF SOMEONE HAD ALLOWED THOSE FEARS TO STOP THEM FROM SHARING THE MESSAGE OF JESUS CHRIST WITH US? !!!
I am so forever thankful the ones who shared Jesus with me did not listen to the fear-led questions raging within their hearts. YES, SO FOREVER THANKFUL!
The Bible tells us that when we enter a conversation with another about the love and salvation of God, then a miracle occurs—The Holy Spirit gives us the words to use, to witness, to testify, to speak about our Savior Jesus Christ. He promised to NEVER leave us, & God NEVER breaks His promise!
We know this truth, so let us not allow our focus upon ourselves to hinder our calling—the part God allows us to take in the Gospel message.
Someone’s soul is being saved & we are given the opportunity to join God (in this small way) to share God’s Message, a Message That Is—SO PROFOUNDLY LARGE!
SO PROFOUND!
SO LIFE-CHANGING!
SO LIFE-GIVING!
SO UNORDINARY!
SO—E-V-E-R-L-A-S-T-I-N-G !!!!!
The Bible explains to us everything we need for our entire, earthly life.
The Bible explains to us everything we need for our eternity.
The Bible does. SEE WITH ME.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
(Ephesians 2: 10)
God prepared “beforehand” the opportunity we would receive to be His witnesses, preparing the conversation before we even reach the time to share about the Salvation of God. AMAZING! We can believe this promise of God. He will not waste the words we speak. God places people around us each day, people who need to meet Jesus. Won’t we take our calling serious? Won’t we tell someone about Jesus today and allow the Holy Spirit of God to do the rest?!!!
“We can trust that God knows what He is doing.” (James Merritt)
So many unused spaces ready to receive the next vehicles full of individuals—SO MANY PEOPLE STILL NEED TO MEET THE LORD!
His ticket was FREE—JESUS ALREADY PAID THE PRICE FOR OUR SALVATION!
Ensuring that we “belonged”—GOD PREPARED THE WAY SO WE MAY BELONG TO THE FAMILY of GOD!
The reminder of God’s promise given to each of us—GOD’S PROMISE IS FOREVER TRUE!
“Do you want to see the full picture?” “Yes,” I replied—WHO DO WE KNOW WHO NEEDS TO SEE JESUS?!
The smallness of our bodies is so small in comparison to the MASSIVE SIZE of the Ark, of God’s directive to Noah—OUR SALVATION TESTIMONY MAY SEEM INSIGNIFICANT, BUT THE ETERNAL SIGNIFICANCE GOD PROVIDES US IS MASSIVE IN SIZE!
MAY WE TRUST GOD—TRUST THAT HE DOES KNOW WHAT HE IS LEADING US TO SAY & TO DO!
God’s Message—A Message That Is—SO POWERFULLY LARGE!
