Seeing Is Believing—He Sees Us BEFORE
Ultrasounds are a novel invention to parents as they see the baby that God has created and placed within the womb. As the mother leans she is pregnant, she rejoices, knowing that soon (within 40 weeks), she will hold her baby; yet, until she can hold her new baby, she must hold onto something else—–HOPE——-and the modern medical invention of an ultrasound make “seeing is believing” a greater reality, and now that 3-D images exist, new parents can SEE so much of their baby’s form while their baby is cocooned inside the womb and growing to the fullness of time to be born.
In the Bible, there are real flesh and blood people who struggle to believe what they could not see with their eyes. Nicodemus was a man who struggled to believe. In fact, he held a position of authority (he was a Pharisee–a teacher of the Law and a ruler of the Jews). It was true that he would jeopardize his position of authority by openly questioning Jesus in the broad daylight, so Nicodemus came to seek Jesus under the cover of darkness (at night).
Who do we know who needs to see Jesus? Are they struggling to see Jesus during the light of day? Are they (in their unbelief) fearful to see Jesus for fear of being wrong and appearing weak in their own selves? It is a risk to see what we cannot openly see—to see what we can only believe within our hearts.Faith is believing in what we cannot see, and though IT IS so easy to trust God, IT IS ALSO so scary to openly place our trust in someone (in God) who we cannot see with our eyes. Yes!! Truly!!! As we age, faith becomes so much more difficult. That’s why the Bible says we need the faith of a child. They believe. They have faith. They have not yet learned that they should not believe. Yet, even though we may now be an adult (like Nicodemus), it is not too late to believe.
Nicodemus knew who Jesus was (as a teacher and healer from God) because he knew that no one could do what Jesus did unless He (Jesus) was with Him (unless Jesus was sent to earth by God’s power).
What Nicodemus was struggling to see on that night (standing right there in front of him) was Jesus—the Messiah, the Son of Man & the Son of God. But, Jesus could see Nicodemus—what Nicodemus could not see.Jesus could see Nicodemus’ unbelief.
So Jesus spoke to Nicodemus that dark night about his new birth (John 3:1-21). Jesus was clear in His direction to Nicodemus as Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, “You must be born again” (John 3:5-7).
God did not just place us into our mother’s womb to be born, to live a good life, to die, and to live for an eternity away from Him.NO!!!!!!!!!!!
God wants to give us so much more.God wants what is BEST (for us). God wants us to know Him.God wants us to believe (in faith) that His Son—Jesus—has come to give us something that is amazingly impossible!!!!!God wants to give us eternal life that only comes through the sacrifice of Jesus upon the cross and His resurrection from the grave three days later.God wants us to see Him—-with our spiritual eyes, through our faith in Him.
King David knew this truth when he wrote “Your eyes [God’s eyes] have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all writtenThe days that were ordained for me,When as yet there was not one of them” (Psalm 139:16).
Truly, God sees what modern, medical technology cannot see. Truly, God sees our form even BEFORE we are even formed, even BEFORE our conception. Truly God sees us—the whole us—-our body & our soul.
In the Bible (John 3:9), we are told that Nicodemus struggled to believe these things Jesus told him that night.Nicodemus needed Jesus to explain it even more clearly to him, and Jesus (in His amazing love) DID!!!!That night, Jesus gave Nicodemus a great truth, one that we know so well.
Are you struggling to believe what you cannot see today? Today (just like Nicodemus) you can turn toward Jesus & see Him as He is—your Savior. Allow Jesus to reveal Himself to you today. Ask Jesus your questions. Seek Him. Jesus will not ever disappoint because… “For God so loved the world [God loved you & me so much], that He gave [to us] His only begotten Son [Jesus], that whoever [that’s you & me] believes in Him shall not perish [we will live eternally—forever with God], but have eternal life [in heaven]” (John 3:16). It is a FACT that everyone can see Jesus today with our eyes of faith.
See Jesus today.Seeing Him is Believing!!!!!!!!!
