Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

If you do not, If you remain silent

Who are you & Who am I—

  • To violate or
  • To destroy that which God created or
  • To desecrate that which God designed or
  • To be silent about what God has created within you and me?

“In the beginning God . . .”

(Genesis 1: 1a NAS)
  • Who will tell your story when you are gone?
  • Who will know you received the perfect sacrifice for your sin?
  • Who will know you are a believer in Jesus if you remain silent?
  • Who will tell the world about the blood of the spotless Lamb of God, if not you?
  • Who will share about God’s free gift of grace, of His eternal life, of His abundant life, if not you?

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The earth was formless and void,
and darkness was over the surface of the deep,
and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.”

(Genesis 1: 1-2 NAS)

If you have ever attended a drama performance, then you know the feeling of anticipation as the audience moves about, finding their seats.  You may recall hearing the chatter of the attendees, exited for the performance about to unfold.  The curtain remains closed, and the audience wonders:  ‘What does the stage look like, behind the curtain?’  No one would dare to ever hop up on stage and take a peek behind the curtain, so the audience waits.  Then as the time draw nears, the audience is silenced by the flickering of the light.  At that precise moment, one can almost taste the anticipation that awaits.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The earth was formless and void,
and darkness was over the surface of the deep,
and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.

[and LIGHT came running]
Then God said,
“Let there be light”;
and there was light.”

(Genesis 1: 1-3 NAS)
  • In astronomy, science teaches us that 1.86 million miles of light per second is the Speed of Light.
  • In theater, the opening curtain prepares us for the action about to unfold on the stage.
  • In both, science and theater, the world watches.

But in faith, we do not merely watch but we participate.  If we do not

  • if we remain silent or
  • if we remain as we are

we will be lost, left behind, and not invited into eternity’s blessed rest & into God’s presence.

“And Jesus cried out and said,
“He who believes in Me, does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me.
He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me.
I have come as Light into the world,
so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.
If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them,
I do not judge him;
for I did not come to judge the world,
but to save the world.
He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings,
has one who judges him;
the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.
For I did not speak on My own initiative,
but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.
I know that His commandment is eternal life;
therefore the things I speak,
I speak just as the Father has told Me.”

(The Gospel According to John 12: 44-50 NAS)

You know you are growing in spiritual maturity when your walk with Christ takes precedence over pleasing people.  May we share Jesus!

  • If you are silent, others will not be found.
  • If I am silent, others will think they are not worth fighting for.
  • If we remain silent, others will not come to know the Father.
  • If we remain silent, others will not come to receive Jesus as their Savior.

“for WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”
How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed?
How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard?
And how will they hear without a preacher?
How will they preach unless they are sent?
Just as it is written,
“HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!”

(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 10: 13-15 NAS)

The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing.  It’s formless and void, darkness deep within, nothingness.

  • Until the Spirit of God moves within their heart, a person cannot be saved.
  • Until the LIGHT of the world comes running, a person remains lost.

In faith, we must not merely watch because we must participate:  calling & being saved.

  • Then we are sent.
  • Then we are to move.
  • Then we are to preach.
  • Then we are to share our story, our testimony.

The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, BUT to those who are being saved—the cross is the power of God!
