Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

“from one end of the sky to the other.”

Last evening, the skyline was so pretty as the sun set in the western sky.  I had been outside for much of the late afternoon, but as the coolness settled in, I returned inside the house and sat down on my couch (the one facing directly in line with the front window that faced west).  Thus, even from my vantage place, I could still see the gorgeous setting sunlight.

Facing downward when we die is not how the mortician will place our bodies in the cemetery, but upward-facing, and there is a reason for that.

For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah.
For as in those days before the flood
they were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage,
until the day that Noah entered the ark,
and they did not understand until the flood came
and took them all away;
so will the coming of the Son of Man be.”

(The Gospel According to Matthew 24: 37-39 NAS)

It does not take much looking to see that people are far from God, and how we live in a world where no one seems to care (that we’re far away from God).  However, during a 2025 survey, a morbid statistic emerged, one that reveals the urgency, the need, and the brutal truth.

  • 166,337 individuals die daily.
  • 2 every second.

Every single one of these persons will die without a relationship with Jesus—unless you and I do something.

Maybe you have been to church before and have heard the minister preach about Jesus’ second coming, and maybe that message was proclaimed years ago.  Now you are older, and still, the preachers proclaim the same message.

Could it be that you think, “Yeah, sure, I do not think Jesus is coming anytime soon.”

That’s pretty skeptical thinking, to be sure, but the Bible speaks of this in the last days.

Behold, I have told you in advance.
So if they say to you,
‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out,
or,
‘Behold, He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe them.

For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west,
so will be the coming of the Son of Man be.
Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.
But immediately after the tribulation of those days
THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED,
AND
THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT,
AND
THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky,
and
the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
And
then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky,
and
then all the tribes of the earth will mourn,
and
they will see
the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY
with power and great glory.
And
He will send forth His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET
and
THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER
His elect from the four winds,
from one end of the sky to the other.”

(The Gospel According to Matthew 24: 25-31 NAS)
  • Truly, we need to be honest with ourselves because our answers can bring freedom.
  • Surely, we must care about our eternity.

For if we individually do not care, then collectively, we will be cast out into utter darkness.  The Bible says so, in fact, JESUS HIMSELF, tells us so.

Jesus spoke of His second coming through the analogy of a master and his slaves.

JESUS’ LESSON IS FOR BOTH THE REDEEMED & THE LOST.

  • May we heed the call of the Lord to be saved.
  • May we, who have already been saved, also heed the call of the Lord to proclaim His gospel to the lost—until Jesus comes!

For this reason you also must be ready;
for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.

Who then is the faithful and sensible slave
whom his master put in charge of his household
to give them their food at the proper time?
Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes.
Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

But if that evil slave says in his heart,
My master is not coming for a long time,’
and begins to beat his fellow slaves and eat and drink with drunkards;
the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him
and
at an hour which he does not know,
and will cut him in pieces
and
assign him a place with the hypocrites;
in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

(The Gospel According to Matthew 24: 44-51 NAS)

“His elect from the four winds,”

Are you in this group (His elect)?

“THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER”

Are you part of the ones who will be gathered (those who know Jesus as Savior)?

Behold, I have told you in advance.”

Are you ready (to meet Jesus Christ, the Messiah) in the sky when He comes?

For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.”

Are you proclaiming the Good News of Jesus?

“the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour which he does not know, and will cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites;”

Are you & I burdened for the 166,337 individuals who will die every two seconds of this day, for every single one of these persons who will die without a relationship with Jesus?

Jesus is the gift of life.

Jesus is the image of the invisible God.

“Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.”

(The Psalms 118: 26a NAS)

Even if today is our last day, we will be saved—if we have lived for the LORD.

for

The triumph at the second coming will be openly displayed—when Jesus comes!

  • See how the psalmist speaks of JESUS, THE KING of kings & THE LORD of lords!
  • See how the psalmist tells us we must ALL be ready to meet our SAVIOR!
  • See how the psalmist reminds us we must ALL proclaim the DAY OF THE LORD!

“My heart overflows with a good theme;
I address my verses to the King;
My tongue is the pen of the ready writer.
You are fairer than the sons of men;
Grace is poured upon Your lips;
Therefore God has blessed You forever.”

(The Psalms 45: 1-2 NAS)
