Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

May We Lift Up……

There are so many reasons to pray.  Yes, surely….so many. Those who do not pray or those who do not know Jesus as Savior are choosing to throw away one of God’s greatest gifts—the communion of our soul with Him.  Through communion, we identify as His, and to continually throw away this opportunity to walk through life without God is incomprehensible.
Yet there are many who just “get along in life” who do not pray, who do not talk with God or listen to God.(Unfortunately both the lost and even some who believe share this problem).
Consider this thought, perfect for today……the National Day of Prayer.

“Mom just pray that the test comes back as negative. Please pray.” Her words revealed the depth of her concern.

“Mom just pray that everything works out, that we get to hug soon.  Please pray.”  Her words echoed through the screen and permeated my heart.
God answers prayer!!  I know God does because there are so many life examples when God has…..Answered Our Prayers !!
Would God suddenly stop answering prayer?
I do not believe so. I also know so because the Bible speaks of God’s faithfulness.
Jesus did not leave us to our own wayward thoughts and actions when He ascended back to heaven after His resurrection.  NO, HE Did Not.

Jesus knew that we would need to commune with Him daily, moment-by-moment, so HE provided us a Comforter through His Holy Spirit. What a gorgeous gift from our Father God!!!!
In the Bible, we can read of the many instances where God provided for His children when they called upon God, when they prayed.  During the time when David was King of Israel, the land suffered turmoil & the land also saw great triumph.  Some would call this chance or coincidence or just the way life works, but the King of the known world (King David) recognized the truth.  God answers prayer!! King David saw God’s hand upon his life and upon his land and upon his task to guide the people.  We know this to be true because King David commissioned scribes to keep his chronicles, to keep his words written to record his daily activities.    We are blessed that God saw fit to include—–in God’s Holy Word—–the prayers of King David within the king’s chronicles.

It is through God’s Word that people find hope…..both the saved and the lost.
Let us read one of David’s Prayers lifted before all the people—
“So David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, “Blessed are You, O LORD God of Israel our Father, forever and ever.
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all”
(1 Chronicles 29: 10-11).

Think about King David’s words for a moment, his prayer to God.  This was the earthly KING of Israel praying to the KING of Kings!!!
Notice David’s words found in his prayer.
First, King David prayed among others “in the sight of the whole assembly” showing the people that there is power to be found in the assembly of believers.  Although at times, we pray alone with God (in intimate communion with Him), there are times when we are to also pray together within the presence of others.  We are to share our requests, to join with others praying over the same requests.

  • We pray for healing.
  • We pray for eyes to see the direction in life we should go.
  • We pray for protection.
  • We pray for other’s eyes to open, that God will reveal Himself to them, & that they will see the truth found in God.
  • We pray, asking God, “Whatever it takes,” circling our prayer over and over again as time goes by, asking God to help them to see that HE is Real.
  • We pray for test results to be favorable.
  • We pray for opportunities to hug those we love.
  • We Pray…..And on this National Day of Prayer, we are called to pray for our nation, our leaders, and the decisions they make.
  • May we lift up our voices & May we be faithful to pray.

When King David stood before the whole assembly that day, there was no hiding his faith in God; everyone present knew exactly where David stood with God.
They heard their king’s words; they saw their king’s actions, and they believed in their king’s God.
Today, others hear our words, our prayers lifted to God in their presence; they see our actions and how we trust God; and they can believe because they witness how God is real in our lives.  Others see God through us;  let us be faithful to live for God and to commune with Him.

David prayed, “Blessed are You, O LORD God of Israel our Father, forever and ever” because King David knew his kingdom was temporary, but God’s Kingdom (the King of Kings) would endure forever (10).
David prayed, recognizing—-
God’s Greatness.  &
God’s Power.   &
God’s Glory.   &
God’s Victory.  &
God’s Majesty.  &
God’s Dominion.   &
God’s Lordship
(11).

The earthly king recognized the heavenly KING, and he did so in the presence of the whole assembly.
***May we pray at all times.
***May we pray over all things.
***May we pray, trusting in God’s faithfulness.
***May we….today….on this National Day of Prayer…..PRAY.
And then tomorrow……May we lift our voices, humble ourselves before Jehovah God, the King of Kings, and may we continue to PRAY.
“But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us” (Roman’s 8:  37).

Let us never trust the gods of this world—–these idols will not react to our prayers because they are temporal; they are earthly gods (statues and manmade things); they are DEAD.

  • BUT JEHOVAH GOD IS NOT TEMPORAL, BUT ETERNAL.
  • AND JEHOVAH GOD IS NOT DEAD, BUT ALIVE!!!

MAY WE PRAY TO THE KING OF KINGS, TO ALMIGHTY GOD!
MAY WE PRAY TO GOD, & MAY WE PRAY—-BELIEVING GOD WILL HEAR US
AND ANSWER OUR PRAYER.
