Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

See The Sunrise

Every morning, the darkness of the night flees as the light of the eastern sky arises.  Normally 10 out of 10 mornings, I see the miracle of God as He brings light to our dark.  Over the years, God has continued to cause the sun to rise, and so, I have come to expect this amazing transformation.
As I write, God allows the darkness to remain.

The Bible tells us of the time when Lazarus was sick…dying in fact, and the sisters (Mary & Martha) sent word for Jesus to come to Bethany, to their home. But Jesus tarried. Jesus knew that by tarrying, He would reveal the glory of God.
Lazarus was blessed with sisters (two caring, compassionate girls) who Accepted the truth that God can do all things. They Believed that Jesus would come to their home, and Jesus would DO a great thing…..Jesus would heal Lazarus.
Jesus knew about his friend’s (Lazarus) sickness.  &
Days later, Jesus arrived on the scene, Lazarus was dead, and he had laid in the tomb many days (4 days to be exact).

How long may a person walk in darkness, refusing to see the light of God? How long may a person refuse to know Him as Savior?
Four Days?  OR Four Years?   OR Twenty-Plus Years? OR Forty Years?
Expect God to do something amazing in your life.
Expect It.
Long for it.
Hope (assuredly) for it.
Seek it.
Prepare for it.
Look with anticipation for it.
YES, EXPECT GOD!!!
YES, MOST DEFINITELY….EXPECT GOD….TO DO (what we could never do for ourselves)!!!

The sisters were in mourning.  They loved their brother, Lazarus.  They knew Jesus could heal their brother, and they also knew Jesus missed His chance to speak with Lazarus & to heal him from this sickness.  They thought, “Jesus should have come to their home four days ago.” In fact, the girls may have even thought, “Oh Jesus, we are so sad to tell you that Lazarus is dead and Jesus (You) are too late.”
Expect God TO DO (what is impossible for us to do for ourselves).
Expect God to do SOMETHING AMAZING.  YES, We Should Expect God to do what we could never do for ourselves.

Mary could not keep Lazarus from dying.   Martha could not sustain her brother’s life.   These two girls thought hope was gone, without their brother Lazarus, and they were now left alone
Every Day…..We Must Look for the “Good” Only God Has the Power To Do—Even the heavenly beings (the sun & the moon) move and exist and obey God’s command.
God speaks to the sun and tells it to, “Arise.  It is now a new day.”
We should never expect to do what only God can do.     We cannot save our own souls.   We cannot walk within God’s light apart from God; therefore, the only way to God’s Salvation is through Him.    Truly, there is no other way!!!
WE MUST EXPECT GOD TO DO SOMETHING AMAZING FOR US IN OUR LIVES……EVERY DAY…….EVEN TODAY!!!

Once we Accept the truth of God’s existence and power to forgive our sins, then we find ourselves Believing God has all power.  Jesus asked the girls if they believed they would see Lazarus again.  They believed. YES, they knew they would see their brother Lazarus again in the resurrection, but they were half right.  They would see Lazarus in eternity someday,  BUT JESUS WAS GOING TO DO SOMETHING FOR THEM ON THAT DAY, SOMETHING THEY COULD NEVER DO FOR THEMSELVES!!!   Jesus was going to raise Lazarus from the dead.

People have questioned since the beginning of time what they should do with God. THIS IS TRULY THE ONLY QUESTION THAT REALLY MATTERS!!!
“Therefore they said to Him, “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?”
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”…..
This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day.
For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day”
  (John 6: 28–29 & 39–40).
Jesus spoke those words to the people (those who were hungry, when HE fed them on the mountainside). It was not until sometime later…Lazarus died.  Jesus foretold of Lazarus’ death to His disciples before he left for Bethany.  Jesus knew Lazarus had died
& Jesus allowed for it. Truly, Jesus chose to tarry because HE knew God’s glory would be revealed…..Some still need to see the truth, to believe in the Son of God….YES….to Accept Jesus as Savior, to Believe in Him, and to Confess Him as Lord of their lives.
Jesus knew……so he tarried…..4 Days!!!!

  • May we Accept that God Can Do what we cannot do for ourselves—-He Has the Power to Save Our Souls for Eternity.
  • May we Believe that Christ Jesus is the Son of God who was sent by God to us (to all people) as a perfect sacrifice, a perfect atonement, a perfect Lamb of God offered for our sins.
  • May we Confess our unworthiness to God, that apart from His salvation all hope is gone  &
  • May we Receive God’s Amazing Grace, His Gift.

We can (at the moment of our salvation) begin to walk within His Light as the rest of our days unfold.
Let us not wait to walk in newness of life.
Truly……Let Us Not!!!

Jesus did what Martha and Mary could never do for their brother Lazarus.
Jesus thanked God for His presence, and then Jesus called to Lazarus in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth” (John 11:43).

What does faith look like?
Faith is first a thankfulness to God for doing what we could never do for ourselves.
And Faith is God performing a miracle.
As I write these words, the darkness continues to cast its shadow outside my window, BUT SOON….
The sun will rise shortly. I EXPECT IT.

I EXPECT GOD TO DO SOMETHING AMAZING.  I EXPECT TO SEE IT WITH MY EYES. I EXPECT TO BASK IN ALL ITS BEAUTY.
YES, MOST DEFINITELY, I DO EXPECT GOD TO DO SOMETHING AMAZING….IN YOUR LIFE & IN MY LIFE….SOMETHING THAT WE CAN NEVER DO FOR OURSELVES.

“But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.
For this reason it says,
“Awake, sleeper,
And arise from the dead, [of sin & separation],
And Christ will shine [His Glorious Light] on you”
(Ephesians 5: 13–14).

Lauren Daigle sings a beautiful melody “Light of the World” that speaks of Emmanuel, the Light of the world, of GOD. Listen today and enjoy this wonderful blessing (if you have opportunity).

We cannot afford to be careless with our time here on earth.
There is no time to walk in darkness!
Soon the Son will arise & when He does, He will return for us as all death & all darkness will be exposed.
Awake Sleeper.  See God.  See & Expect God To Do Something Amazing That you Can Never Do For Yourself.
So today, as the dawn begins to permeate the world outside, & As I complete these words, the sun will soon rise, a brand new day will begin as promised.
God will bring the sunrise. The sun will surely shine (just as we have come to EXPECT IT).

See the sunrise today.
YES, SEE THE SON RISE & BELIEVE!!!
