Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Why did I not die at birth,

“Why did I not die at birth,
Come forth from the womb and expire?”

(The Book of Job 3:11 NASB)

Do we ever wonder why God created us?

Yes, do we question:  What’s my purpose, GOD?

Do we ever wonder how the world would be different if we had never lived?

Yes, do we question:  Why have You created me, GOD?

Do we ever wonder what the LORD wants to accomplish through us?

Yes, do we question:  How can I serve You LORD?

Suffering sometimes comes to our lives and truly, there is just no explanation.  It just is!  There are many times when we cannot explain ‘why’ we are suffering OR ‘why’ someone we know is suffering.  We only know they are suffering.  We see them.  We hear them.  We sit beside them on the ground, for days, throughout the nights, sitting in presence, in quietness because truly, there are no words we know to speak.

Our salvation through the shed blood of Jesus, through our Savior’s redemption—demands our obedience to our Father.  It is serious!  We cannot walk in faithfulness yesterday and then today, walk in our own way, doing our own agenda, living for ourselves rather than for our Redeemer.  Sunday cannot be the only day we worship the King of kings!

God must be God on our Monday—Tuesday—Wednesday—Thursday—Friday—Saturday!

In studying the account of God’s servant Job, I find myself intrigued by Job’s question:

“Why did I not die at birth, . . .” (The Book of Job 3:11a NASB)

  • Maybe, we too, have asked God this same question.
  • Maybe, we too, have looked at others and questioned God.
  • Maybe, we too, have looked at the evil found in this world and pondered why God allows evil to exist.
  • Maybe, we too, have forgotten just how ugly, how vile, how horrible our own sins are to LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!
  • Maybe, we have just turned a blind eye on our own vileness, our depth of blackness BEFORE JESUS COVERED ALL OUR SINS WITH HIS MERCY & GRACE!

Most definitely, in studying the account of God’s servant Job, I find myself compelled by Job’s question to the LORD about why HE did not just allow HIS creation Job to:

“Come forth from the womb and expire?” (The Book of Job 3:11b NASB)

The apostle Paul faithfully reminds us Why we are alive, What is our purpose & How we are to serve our Creator.  We are called to:

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
Put on the full armor of God,

so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but against the rulers,
against the powers,
against the world forces of this darkness,
against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Ephesians 6: 10-12 NASB)
  • When the LORD created us and placed us into our mother’s womb, He did so with one purpose—that we would come to know Him through His Only Begotten Son Jesus.
  • When the LORD fashioned us, He gave us a certain number of days to walk the face of this earth.
  • When the LORD wrote out the days of our lives, He placed us inside His Story.
  • When the LORD saved our soul, He made the way for us to share eternity with Him, then God placed His Best, His Holy Spirit inside our being.
  • When the LORD called us to Himself, He gave us Himself so that we could walk in fellowship with Him.
  • When the LORD redeemed us (paid the price, forgiving all our sins), He made us an integral member of His army.
  • When the LORD returns for us, will He find us faithful to His calling?

It is God Himself who commands us to:  “be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.”

It is God Himself who commands us to:  “Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”

It is God Himself who reminds us how:  “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, . . . “

It is God Himself who reminds us that we are battling:  “against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, . . .”

It is God Himself who affirms the truth how we are walking in a daily fight:  “against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

  • May we hold fast to the reason Why we did not die at birth.
  • May we cling to the truth how God did not bring us from the womb to expire, to walk through life as ‘the walking dead.
  • May we remember we are called to be the ‘children of Light.’
  • May we recall how we are sons & daughters of the King of kings and Lord of lords.
  • May we walk forward in THIS SINGLE DAY the LORD has given, aware how the devil is roaming, seeking to devour all he can.

BUT MAY WE BE COURAGEOUS & BOLD IN OUR TESTIMONY OF JUST WHO WE SERVE & WHO WE ADORE—JEHOVAH GOD, EMMANUEL, JESUS CHRIST, THE SAVIOR & THE REDEEMER!
