Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

How will we?

Think about the different areas of your life where you are actively involved.  Yes, pause to consider where your responsibilities lay. Where are your required duties?

Where is your ministry area? & How are you being called by God to serve?

For me, I am a—

  • Wife
  • Mother
  • Daughter
  • Sister
  • Friend
  • Member of a local church
  • Sunday School teacher
  • Young Adult Small Group facilitator
  • Deacon’s wife
  • Greeter & Seater of Church Guests
  • Instructor at the university
  • Blogger with the help of a faithful friend

If you are like me, then you have tasks, duties, obligations that you need to accomplish today, & so the next question becomes:  How will we “live out God’s calling”—

  • to love Him
  • to love others
  • to be salt and light
  • to be a savory aroma of Jesus
  • to be the hands of Jesus
  • to be the feet of Jesus
  • to pray without ceasing (yes, that means throughout the whole day)
  • to be a faithful witness of the Gospel message
  • to walk without stumbling, being led by the Holy Spirit in all things

—to all those individuals God has entrusted to us?

Jesus demonstrated for us how to ‘do the Father’s will’ in his daily walk, as he went. &

We are to follow His teaching to ‘do the Father’s will’ as we go throughout our day.

“Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of lights,

with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.
In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth,
so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.
This you know, my beloved brethren.
But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;
for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.
Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness,

in humility receive the word implanted,
which is able to save your souls.
But prove yourselves doers of the word,
and not merely hearers who delude themselves.”

(The Letter of James 1: 17-22 NASB)
  • Did you need to scoot back your toes (like me) & place them under the chair where you are sitting as you read the Word of God?
  • Did you feel the prickling of conviction (like me) & realize that you have oftentimes been more selfish with your wants and desires than with the “living out” of God’s will?

AND ALSO

  • Are we able to look around your neighborhood & see those who are unchurched and seemingly unconcerned about their spiritual health?
  • Are we able to look at the surrounding world & see all the neighbors we encounter, those who are truly in need?
  • Are you & I walking by faith—“living out God’s calling”?

BECAUSE

  • How will we—serve JESUS as a faithful witness—if our focus, or looking at the world, or our doing in the world is focused only on ourselves rather than on JESUS?    &
  • How will we—follow JESUS as a faithful testifier of the truth—if our wants and desires are focused more on ourselves rather than on the Great Commission of JESUS CHRIST, the SAVIOR?

The melody “Rebel Heart” by Lauren Daigle speaks through song what I am striving to write.  Join me in picking up our earbuds to listen to the TRUTH found in Daigle’s lyrics.

  • Without a doubt, we must be prepared for whatever God has in store for our lives.
  • Without a doubt, we must decline and God must be magnified.
  • Without a doubt, we must reflect Jesus within our daily walk.
  • Without a doubt, we must allow our faith to spill out, covering everything we do.
  • Without a doubt, we must show the world through our words & also through our actions how our identity is not found in ourselves but in CHRIST JESUS!

“It was for freedom that Christ set us free;
therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
. . .
You were running well;
who hindered you from obeying the truth?
This persuasion did not come from Him who calls you.
. . .
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Galatians 5: 1 & 7-8 & 16 NASB)

How will we “live out God’s calling”?

We will Walk by the Spirit of God!
