Where is God calling you? & What do you see?
“Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan,
(Genesis 13: 10-11 NASB)
that it was well watered everywhere
—this was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah—
like the garden of the LORD,
like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar.
So Lot chose for himself all the valley of the Jordan,
and Lot journeyed eastward.
Thus they separated from each other.”
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to leave—the land where he called home, the land of Ur.
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to believe—all that the LORD promised, even before Abram took the first step.
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to journey—to walk to a new place, leaving his lovely Egypt.
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to step—toward where the LORD was leading him, moving away from where his comfort resided, even though he had been called late in life at 75 years of age.
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram (a very rich man) to obediently leave—yes, to go where the LORD was leading him & to willingly dwell in his tent as a nomad, as a man without an earthly home.
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to move physically into the land—pitching his tent in the land where the LORD had called him to go.
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to see the blessing of the LORD’S promise—seeing it with his spiritual eyes, even before his eyes could physically see.
Where is God calling you? &
What do you see?
“Abram settled in the land of Canaan,
(Genesis 13: 12-16 NASB)
while Lot settled in the cities of the valley,
and moved his tents as far as Sodom.
Now the men of Sodom were wicked exceedingly and sinners against the LORD.
The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him,
“Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward;
for all the land which you see, I will give it to you and to your descendants forever.”
“I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth,
so that if anyone can number the dust of the earth,
then your descendants can also be numbered.”
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to settle in a foreign place—a place he did not know.
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to separate from his family—settling separated from his nephew Lot.
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to allow Lot to choose the lush land—even while Abram remained in the land the LORD promised him.
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to look with his physical eyes—though seeing with his spiritual eyes.
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to believe the word of the LORD—even while his wife Sarai remained barren.
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to trust the LORD at His word!
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to step completely away from what he had planned for his life & to see the larger blessing the LORD promised!
Where is God calling you? &
What do you spiritually see?
“Arise,
(Genesis 13: 17-18 NASB)
walk about the land through its length and breadth;
for I will give it to you.”
Then Abram moved his tent
and came
and dwelt by the oaks of Mamre,
which are in Hebron,
and there he built an altar to the LORD.”
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to stand in faith!
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to walk by faith!
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to step, to physically see with his eyes!
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to move his body, his physical tent!
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to come where the LORD called him!
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to dwell within the place the LORD had called him to go!
- To claim the Promise Land required Abram to worship the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!
Where is God calling you? &
What do you see with your spiritual eyes that you cannot see with your physical eyes?
“By faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise,
(The Letter to the Hebrews 11: 9-10 NASB)
[Abraham did]
as in a foreign land,
[Abraham did]
dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob,
[Abraham did]
fellow heirs of the same promise;
[Abraham did]
for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.”
- Will you walk by faith?
- Will you willingly dwell in a foreign place, dwelling wherever the LORD leads?
- Will you faithfully go, not looking back toward where you have come but only forward to the future generations?
- Will you see the PROMISES of the LORD for your life?
- Will you see the godly foundation the LORD is building & fashioning of your life?
- Where is God calling you? & What do you see, looking only with your spiritual eyes? &
- Will you see the future Spiritual Harvest, the LORD’S Promises, fully believing by faith—What only He can see?
