Can There Be a “RELATIONSHIP” Without Daily “CONVERSATION”?
“Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
(Jeremiah 33: 3 NASB)
The phone continued to buzz in my ear as I waited. How long should the phone ring before I hang up, give up, and forget about talking to the person I am trying to reach? Should I call back? Should I try texting? Should I become angry that they never seem to want to talk? Should I just give up trying to ever talk.
Conversations: They are important.
Talking: It is an action that draws us closer.
Relationship: Without conversing often, then it’s impossible to have one.
All of us have been guilty of being “too busy” for our own good. Moreover, all of society, if we are 100% honest, are guilty of having “too many irons in the fire” (a beautiful quote from my mom). Thus, the question becomes, can we ever call what we share with another person an “intimate relationship” if we never talk?
No, probably not.
Sure, if we are good friends, then we could talk six months from now and probably fall into a comfortable conversation, falling right back into a relationship where we left off when we first went silent. However, there will be some damage to the foundation to the relationship, some crumbling near the edges, some space that we may not physically SEE but will be FELT, nonetheless.
- GOD knew people would need a Savior—so HE sent JESUS.
- GOD knew people would need the Messiah—so HE sent JESUS.
- GOD knew people would need a Redeemer—so HE sent JESUS.
- GOD knew people would need a Friend—so HE sent JESUS.
- GOD knew HIS creation needed an intimate relationship—so GOD sent us JESUS.
- GOD knew—so GOD sent HIS ONLY SON, JESUS, into the world.
- GOD KNEW—SO GOD SENT US HIS GIFT OF SALVATION FOUND ONLY THROUGH JESUS!
It is a truth: GOD WILL NEVER FORCE HIMSELF ON US!
It is also truth: GOD SPEAKS CLEARLY & PROFOUNDLY TO US!
It is 100% true: GOD IS NOT SILENT, NOR QUIET; HE DESIRES TO GUIDE US, TO REVEAL TO US HIS HEART & TO SHARE LIFE WITH US.
In order to share an intimate relationship with Father God, then we need to be daily down on our knees listening, speaking, and being together with our heavenly Father.
IF WE WANT TO UNDERSTAND MORE ABOUT GOD, THEN WE NEED TO PRAY!
John 3: 16 tells us that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to earth so that whoever believes in God would never die but share eternity with Him. Clearly that is the profound love of God!
I love how God makes His Word so approachable, so easy to remember, so applicable, and so relatable. Once a person gives his heart to Jesus, then God’s Holy Spirit indwells the person, leading, walking with, guiding, and instructing him as he walks through life.
- It is the person’s task to remain in constant conversation with the Father.
- It is the person’s task to walk in relationship, to follow the Son.
- It is the person’s task to listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
GOD WILL NEVER DEPART; GOD WILL ALWAYS REMAIN!
So, the question becomes: Can There Be a “RELATIONSHIP” Without Daily “CONVERSATION”?
May we, children of God, be down on our knees in conversation with our Father.
“Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”
(1 Corinthians 3: 16 NASB)
