A walk through life toward eternity

See the Salvation of the LORD!

See this image with me.

There is a raging river, one that seems to extend outside its banks with the water racing by, and as you stand looking at this dangerous current, someone jumps into the water.  Those standing on the bank begin to yell at the one who jumped in (as if the one in the river could hear any of their words).  They excitedly wave their arms high above their heads (as if the one in the river could pause to see their raised arms).  Anyone who knows the dangerous river also knows this man will not escape the river but will perish IN THE RIVER.

The man who was caught within the current of the river could not escape, and those standing on the riverbank saw how this man suddenly stopped struggling.  One moment he was fighting against the water, trying to save himself, and the next moment, he was not.

At that moment, the One who could save this drowning man stepped into the water and saved him.

The question many ask:  Why did the One who had the power to save the man wait?

In the Bible, the man Job possessed everything possible—the makings of a happy life.  He had good health, a family, property, a career, plans, and even stock. Nevertheless, most important to Job was his faith.  God knew this about Job.  Satan knew this about Job.  His friends knew this about Job.  Even his family knew this about Job.

As the narrative goes, Satan asked God if Job REALLY had faith as he proclaimed or if he would curse God if everything was taken from him.

God allowed His child Job to be put to the test.

Everything BUT HIS LIFE was stripped away from Job.

To say that Job’s life went from “great” to “horrible” truly is an understatement, but that’s exactly what occurred.

After several chapters of reading what has happened to this child of God, when Job has lost everything, we come to Job’s proclamation about His Savior.  Take up your Bible to read with me.

“Oh that my words were written!
Oh that they were recorded in a book!
That with an iron stylus and lead
They were engraved in
the rock forever!
Yet as for me, I know that
my Redeemer lives,
And at the last, He will take
His stand on the earth.
Even after my skin is destroyed,
Yet from my flesh I will see God,
Whom I, on my part, shall
behold for myself,
And whom my eyes will

see, and not another.
My heart faints within me!

(Job 19: 23-27 NASB)

JESUS SAVES!

THE LORD SAVES!

The One who had the power to save the man—SAVED THE MAN!

In the narrative of Job, we read how he was a man of faith, and even when his life seemed to be falling apart, still he clung to the very One who had the power to save him.  His friends wondered why, and so did his wife.  Truly, it would have been so much easier to “curse God and die” as his wife told him to do.

BUT JOB NEVER DID!

True, he asked God “why,” and Job wondered if he would endure his life-struggle.  There were even times Job wished for death, but what Job never did was turn away from his Savior!

“Yet as for me, I know that
my Redeemer lives,
And at the last, He will take
His stand on the earth.”

(Job 19: 25 NASB)

JESUS SAVES!

We hear it; we even ignore these words as a world of lost sinners, but the truth is the truth.

JESUS SAVES!

We see how Jesus does save ALL who give up their struggles to save themselves, who stop trying to establish their own destiny, who suddenly let go of their unbelief &

REALLY SEE THAT IT IS JESUS WHO SAVES!

  • Jesus wants our surrender.
  • Jesus wants our surrender.
  • Jesus wants our surrender.
  • Jesus wants our surrender.

Jesus waits for us.

Then in the instant that a lost one who is drowning in his sin—ceases in his unbelief, that is the moment JESUS SAVES!

Baylor Wilson sings a melody that proclaims through song what we who believe need to continue to always do.  Grab your earbuds and listen with me to “All The Way Home.”

  • Job wanted his friends to know His God as he did.
  • Job wanted his wife to know His God as he did.

So he told them about his God Who SAVES!

  • May we—See the Salvation of the LORD!
  • May we—Share our testimony with our friends and family (as Job did).

May we say, “Yet as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last”

[at the moment JESUS COMES AGAIN to earth]

“He will take His stand on the earth.” (Job 19: 25 NASB)
