A walk through life toward eternity

Rooms, Ceiling, & Floor: The NEW Building Project

The other day, as I drove to school, it was clearly apparent that a new building project was occurring because I saw the excavation of a property, and immediately, I began to ask myself:  ‘I wonder what that building will house.’  Over time, the preparation of the ground was complete, and then the construction crew set up shop.  Normally a new building takes shape with wood, but this building was different, sturdier, because steel was used for its formation.  Thus, my new question became:  ‘I wonder what that strong building will house once it’s complete.’ After a time of wondering, last week, the truth was revealed.

  • The building project—one of painstaking wait.
  • The foundation—one of focus to create a steady foundation.
  • The structure (walls, floor, & roof)—one of quality, strength, and costly materials.
  • The revelation—a storage place for people to store their acquired ‘things’ they purchase during life.

There is a passage from God’s Word that applies, verses of truth that come from the Old Testament.  Please pause and read with me.

“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans for prosperity and not for disaster;  to give you a future and a hope.”

(Jeremiah 29:  11 NASB)
  • Does God have a purpose and a plan for each individual person He creates?  The short answer:  YES!  The long answer:  YES because the Bible tells us so!
  • Does God desire that we enjoy lives of prosperity, away from disaster?  The short answer:  YES!  The long answer:  YES because the Bible tells us so!
  • Does God plan to give each person alive a future and a hope?  The short answer:  YES!  The long answer:  YES because the Bible tells us so!

“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans for prosperity and not for disaster;  to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.”

(Jeremiah 29:  11-12 NASB)
  • Does God require something of each human being He creates?  Again, the short answer:  YES, while the long answer comes:  YES because the Bible tells us so!
  • Does God expect us to call upon Him, to trust Him, and to bow in prayer before Him?  Again, the short answer:  YES, when the long answer proclaims:  YES because the Bible tells us so!
  • Does God promise to listen when we do?  Again, the short answer:  YES, as the long answer states:  YES because the Bible tells us so!

“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans for prosperity and not for disaster;  to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”

 (Jeremiah 29:  11-13 NASB)
  • Does God promise all of humanity that we will find Him when we seek Him?  With assurance, the short answer is YES, & the long-awaited answer reminds us:  YES, because the Bible tells us so!
  • Does God expect all of humanity to search for Him with our full heart?  With assurance, we are told the short answer:  YES, even while we are shown where the long answer exists:  the Bible tells us so!
  • Does God promise to hear our prayers when we call, when we come, when we pray, when we seek, and when we search with our whole being?  With assurance, the short answer:  A resounding—YES!  YES!   Because the Bible tells us so!

“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans for prosperity and not for disaster;  to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
I will let Myself be found by you,”
declares the LORD, “and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you,” declares the LORD, “and I will bring you back to the place where I sent you into exile.”

 (Jeremiah 29:  11-14 NASB)
  • Does Almighty God allow us to find Him? Of course, the short answer remains:  YES, because the Bible tells us so!
  • Will God restore us (His creation) and bring us back to Him?  Of course, the short answer promises:  YES!  YES!  Because the Holy Bible tells us so!
  • Through Jesus—the Christ, the Messiah, the Savior and Redeemer—does God say He will return us to the Promised land, “to the place” of His favor?  Most definitely, the ONLY ANSWER POSSIBLE:  YES!  Most assuredly, the ONLY ANSWER POSSIBLE:  YES because the God’s Holy Word tells us so!

God’s Building Project, one He has created from the dust—up, is humanity.

  • God began a building project when He placed us within our mother’s womb.
  • God created us for His good purpose when He sent Himself to the world through His Only Son.
  • God laid the foundation, constructed the walls, made the rooms of our soul, and gave us Jesus as God’s cornerstone.

There is a passage from God’s Word that applies, verses of truth that come from the New Testament.  Please pause and read with me.

“For we are God’s fellow workers;  you are God’s field, God’s building.
According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it.  But each person must be careful how he builds on it.
For no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw,
each one’s work will become evident;  for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each one’s work.
If anyone’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward.
If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss;  but he himself will be saved, yet only so as through fire.
Do you not know that you are a temple of God and the Spirit of God dwells in you?
If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy that person;
for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.”

(1 Corinthians 3: 9-17 NASB)

God’s Building Project, one HE created, most definitely remains:  humanity.

  • God began a “new” building project when we chose to turn toward Him, turning from our nature of sin, and accepted His free offer of His Amazing Grace!
  • That’s when He immediately placed us within the palm of His hand!
  • God created us and He alone constructs our lives for His good purpose!
  • That’s why He sent Himself to this world through His Only Son—JESUS!
  • God laid the foundation, constructed our walls, and made the rooms of our soul, all when gave us Jesus as God’s cornerstone!
  • That’s why God tests His building (our lives) with the trials of His Holy fire!
  • That’s why God allows other believers to walk through life with us as we go.
  • That’s why God allows us to walk with other believers as they too go through life.

When the day of our completion comes

(that day when we will step into heaven, into God’s presence)

Then all we have done, all of our work we have done in our name and for our good gain—

will be burned up!

&

That’s when all we have done, all of our work we have done in JESUS’ NAME and for HIS good gain—

will be saved!

All because of God’s consuming fire!

Amazingly, God placed a song within my being as this writing comes to a close.  Please pause to listen with me “Cornerstone” by Toby Mac & Zach Williams.

  • May we not place our lives on the sinking sand.
  • May we not focus our lives on the spinning world.
  • May we place ALL parts of our LIVES on JESUS—the SOLID ROCK!
  • May we allow God to build our lives upon the only CORNERSTONE!
  • May we never forget WHOSE we are!
  • May we never forget WHO dwells within us!

May we never forget God’s Promise: “the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.”
