Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

How Are We Doing (in Our Walking Closely Beside our LORD)?

Charles Spurgeon once said words similar to these.  We cannot talk bad, cannot slander, humans and the way they act because it’s worse than any picture we could ever paint.  Maybe you agree since like me, you have seen the way we humans treat one another, and agree, it’s pretty bad.

As believers, we know exactly why.

As humans, we often struggle with the why.

As God’s children, we are reminded within His Word why.

As children of human parents, we grapple and wrestle with our human nature.

As saints, saved by the grace of God, we understand how we are set apart, how we are to be different from the world who surrounds us.

As moms, dads, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends to others, we often fall short.

As the redeemed family of God, we are instructed clearly—How we are to walk within this world during the years God grants us to remain here on earth.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”

(Romans 3: 23 NASB)

The melody “Re-Surrender” by Hillsong Worship says it so well, what we might need to do.  Listen with me today.

“If You’re calling, we’re coming.

We’re not walking, we’re running.

God, we need re-surrender.

We Re-Surrender.  We Re-Surrender!”

If our response is to stop in our tracks, to look up from what we are doing, to place our eyes upon Jesus, to then drop to our knees and seek His repentance, then brothers and sisters-in-Christ, we are on the right path.

If you are reading these words and do not yet know Jesus as Savior, then there is still Hope, still time,

God knows us, and it is a truthful fact:  God knew us from the moment He fashioned us within our mother’s womb.  The psalmist David recorded these reassuring words within Psalm 139.  Then, we are reminded by the prophet Jeremiah how God plans out our steps, our years, our time—as we walk upon the face of this earth.  Our task is really quite simple:  Accept God’s Salvation through His Son, Jesus, our Savior, & then walk within God’s plan for our lives.

See with me the Word of God.

“For I know [Almighty God knows] the plans I have for you,’ [each one of you] declares the LORD, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
I will let Myself be found by you,’
declares the LORD, . . .”

(Jeremiah 29:11-14a NASB)

Hum.

God created us.  The Bible says so!

God knows us before He creates us.  The Bible says so!

God places within us a desire to know Him in intimate relations through His Son.

The Bible says so!

God offers us His free gift of His Salvation.  The Bible says so!

God places within us His Holy Spirit once we do—accept His free gift of salvation.

The Bible says so!

God’s Holy Spirit guides us, leads us, directing our steps, & all we are called to do is Follow Him!

The Bible says so!

God’s Spirit convicts us when we sin, just as He did before we knew Him as our Father.

The Bible says so!

God provides us opportunity to return to Him—over & again—as many times as needed, so that we can walk within His will.  The Bible says so!

Hum!

How are we doing with our walking?  With our Following Him?

“This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.
You are My friends if you do what I command you.
No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing;  but I have called you friends, because all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.
You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.
This I command you, that you love one another.”

(John 15: 12-17 NASB)
