A walk through life toward eternity

WHO we WORSHIP—Matters!

Love is a strong emotion.  Within the Bible, there is much written about LOVE, whole books in fact, and even full chapters.  See one verse with me today and hear the chorus as “the lovers speak.”

“Who is this coming up from the wilderness,
Leaning on her beloved?”

(Song of Solomon 8: 5 NASB)

If we are serious, we think more about “what” we love when we should think more about “WHO” we are to love & worship & praise.

Rather than focusing our energies on acquiring “loves” of this world, “loves” such as:

  1. “love” days of leisure
  2. “love” the homes where we live
  3. “love” the jobs where we work & the money we earn
  4. “love” the vehicles we drive
  5. “love” the books that we read
  6. “love” the clothes we choose to wear
  7. “love” the gardens and yards we tenderly care for each year
  8. “love” the entertainment that brings us delight
  9. “love” the music that graces our ears
  10. “love” the wonders of the earth we eagerly seek

To the bride, the beloved speaks:

“Put me like a seal over your heart,
Like a seal on your arm.
For love is as strong as death,
Jealously is as severe as Sheol;
Its flames are flames of fire,
The flame of the LORD.
Many waters cannot quench love,
Nor will rivers flood over it;
If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love,
It would be utterly despised.”

(Song of Solomon 8: 6-7 NASB)

Love is not for sale.  It never was nor will it ever be—for sale.

Let us begin this day, on Christ the King Sunday, focusing our energies on the sustaining love of God we received at our birth & again at our second birth.  Christ the King is the title of Jesus in Christianity that reminds us of the Kingdom of God where Jesus Christ is seated at the right hand of God.

Contrary to the season we are about to enter, the one filled with consumerism, the one filled with the question:  Whatever gift can I purchase for _____________?

Let us begin as we march toward the Season of Advent to focus instead upon the response we should offer to God for what He has already done for us—for all of humanity.

The heart transformed by Almighty God offers continual praise & worship to—GOD!

May we WORSHIP not ourselves, but may we WORSHIP—FATHER GOD!

  1. LOVE the Father Who provides us His Salvation.
  2. LOVE the Son of God Who gave His life upon the cross of Calvary.
  3. LOVE the Holy Spirit Who guides and leads us through every single day.
  4. LOVE the salvation and redemption we have received.
  5. LOVE the godly parents who have raised us in church.
  6. LOVE the godly spouse God has led us to.
  7. LOVE the children God has blessed us to hug.
  8. LOVE the people God places into our paths each day.
  9. LOVE the opportunity to share with others the money and worldly goods God has provided.
  10. LOVE the testimony God has placed inside our being.
  11. LOVE the praise our lips can speak as we lift our hands to our LORD.
  12. LOVE the adoration our hearts can offer as we bow in worship to our KING.

There is a wonderful melody titled “Full Access” by Christian artist Dara Maclean, and within this song, we find words we can lift in worship to our Father.

“You can have full access.

You can have full access.

You can have full access—to my heart.

Search me.  Know me.

God You can change me.

God You can have full access—(to me).”

“Full Access”

May we attend church today, and as we leave, may we not judge the worship service by how we feel because WORSHIP was never designed to be about us.

It does not matter if we like the music.

It does not matter if we like the way the sermon made us feel.

It does not matter if we like the feeling we received.

WORSHIP IS NOT ABOUT US!

WORSHIP IS NOT ABOUT WHAT WE LIKE OR DO NOT LIKE!

WORSHIP IS ABOUT OUR HEAVENLY FATHER!!!!!

“Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
And do not be conformed to this world, but
be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

(Romans 12: 1-2 NASB)
