A walk through life toward eternity

What is God Asking of You?

“And Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on his son Isaac, and he took in his hand the fire and knife.  So the two of them walked on together.
Isaac spoke to his father Abraham and said, “My father!”  And he said, “Here I am, my son.”  And he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
Abraham said, “God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.”
So the two of them walked on together.”

(Genesis 22: 6-8 NASB)

Abraham believed God.

Abraham believed God would provide.

Abraham believed God would provide for Himself.

Abraham believed God would provide for Himself the lamb.

Abraham believed God would provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering.

Abraham knew the burnt offering was offered for the atonement of sins.

Abraham was led by God to take the wood for the offering, to take the fire needed for the altar.

Abraham was led by God to take the knife required for the killing of the lamb to be offered.

Abraham was led by God to take Isaac to the mountaintop, to the place where God led him to go.

Abraham was led by God, so for three days, he walked and then he “saw the place from a distance.”

Abraham placed the wood upon his son Isaac so they could walk “to the place of which God had told him.”

Abraham believed God would provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering.

Abraham believed that if he were called to sacrifice his son upon the altar, then God would raise Isaac to new life.

Abraham believed God.

Abraham believed God!

“By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and the one who had received the promises was offering up his only son;
It was he to whom it was said, “THROUGH ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS SHALL BE NAMED.”
He considered that God is able to raise people even from the dead, from which he also received him back as a type.”

(Hebrews 11: 17-19 NASB)

God is able to make a way—where there was not a way before—that is the walk of faith.

What is God Asking of You?

The God of Abraham is the same God we serve.

The God of Moses is the same God we serve.

The God of Noah is the same God we serve.

The God of Joshua is the same God we serve.

The God of Ruth is the same God we serve.

The God of Daniel and the three Hebrew boys is the same God we serve.

The God of Isaiah, Elijah, & Elisha is the same God we serve.

The God of Esther is the same God we serve.

The God of the disciples of Jesus is the SAME GOD we serve.

The God who sent His only Son Jesus to the cross of Calvary is the SAME GOD—we are called to serve!

The God who raised His Son Jesus Christ to new life is the SAME GOD—we serve by faith!

We serve the SAME GOD!

There is ONLY ONE GOD!

God is able to make a way—where there was not a way before—that is the walk of faith.

What is God Asking of You?

Are we obeying God—despite what He is calling us to do?

Are we obeying God—despite where He is sending us to go?

Are we obeying God—whenever & wherever He leads us to testify?

Are we obeying God—despite the fear we may feel in doing His good pleasure?

Are we obeying God?

Are we walking within His will?

Are we?

Are we, really?

There is a melody that is sung by Hillsong Worship titled “Know You Will.”  Please pause and listen.  Really hear these lyrics:

“I don’t know how you make a way but You will.”

“And Abraham named that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”
Then the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven,
and said, “By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son,
indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand, which is on the seashore;  and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies.
And in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

(Genesis 22: 14-18 NASB)

I wonder:

What is God Asking of You?

What is God Asking of Me?

In seeing the faithful followers who came before us, we can be encouraged that God is always faithful.

In reading God’s Word and studying the lives of those faithful ones who obeyed God’s will, we can see how God always provided a way to accomplish His will and to keep His commandments.

Abraham saw with eyes of faith, & we are called to do so too.

Abraham believed God, & we are to believe God—too.

Let us reaffirm our faith, our love, our dedication to our God—today.

Let us forgive others as we have been forgiven.

Let us not selfishly live our lives for ourselves.

Let us not serve Satan—but let us serve God!

Let us exclaim:  “I don’t know how you make a way but You will.”

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us reveals the fragrance of the knowledge of Him in every place.
For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing:
to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life.  And who is adequate for these things?
For we are not like the many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.”

(2 Corinthians 2: 14-17 NASB)
  • What is God Asking of You?
  • What is God Asking of Me?

God is able to make a way—where there was not a way before—that is the walk of faith!

  • Are we obeying God?
  • Are we walking within His will?

God is able to make a way—where there was not a way before—that is the walk of faith!
