Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

We Are Sustained By Almighty God

Adversity comes for a variety of reasons—

Some struggles come as consequences of our sinful actions.

Some struggles come as endurance for our spiritual maturity.

Some struggles come as moments of rejoicing as we remember in Whom we trust.

Some struggles come as proclamation to the world as we show the world our Jesus.

The Scriptures are so clear.

  • We strive against God during our time of unbelief and need a Savior.
  • We come to God just as we are, receiving God’s Saving Grace, a fully-completely free gift.
  • We enjoy the fellowship we receive as the Holy Spirit of God leads us away from temptations and continually toward God’s good pleasure.
  • We are held close by God’s merciful hand.

“I waited patiently for the LORD;
And He reached down to me and heard my cry.
He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the mud;
And He set my feet on a rock, making my footsteps firm.
He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;
Many will see and fear
And will trust in the LORD.”

(Psalm 40: 1-3 NASB)

We Are Sustained By Almighty God!

Even though we now belong to the Father; we are a child of the King, still—

We will face struggles within our earthly body and within our earthly life.

Nevertheless, we are cared for by the Great Shepherd, even when our struggles seem to trample upon us.

There is a photo that my baby brother sent me years ago, one of my great aunt (my grandma’s sister) walking through his barn lot, and there in the photo, walking close behind her, trails several sheep.  My first thought when I saw the photo was something like this:  ‘She’s a genuine Mary with her lambs,’ but then the LORD spoke to my heart, reminding me of my Savior’s leading of me.  Immediately & Continually, whenever I look at that photo, I no longer think of a nursery rhyme but of a Savior—Jesus Christ.

HE was & is & will always be—the GOOD SHEPHERD!

“How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust,
And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who become involved in falsehood.
Many, LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done,
And Your thoughts toward us;
There is no one to compare with You.
If I would declare and speak of them,
They would be too numerous to count.
You have not desired sacrifice and meat offering;
You have opened my ears;
You have not required burnt offering and sin offering.
Then I said,
‘Behold, I have come;
It is written of me in the scroll of the book.
I delight to do Your will, my God;
Your Law is within my heart.’”

(Psalm 40:  4-8 NASB)

We Are Sustained By Almighty God!

HE was & is & will always be—the GOOD SHEPHERD!

Therefore, let us be encouraged and let us be edified because we have the power of Almighty God alive within us, and we are called to proclaim Your righteousness as we go.  Help us never to withhold the testimony that You have placed inside our heart.  LORD, help us never to restrain our lips, but give us boldness and courage to speak of Your goodness, of Your salvation.  For, we know how we belong ETERNALLY to YOU!

“You, LORD, will not withhold Your compassion from me;
Your mercy and Your truth will continually watch over me.”

(Psalm 40: 11 NASB)

Hallelujah!

Forevermore—We Are Sustained By Almighty God!

Thank You Jesus!

Thank You Holy Spirit!

Thank You God!

Amen.
