Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

WHAT ARE WE DOING, if we are not serving & honoring our HEAVENLY FATHER?!!!

From the beginning, we have not ever, really, owned anything upon this earth, but we have (mankind) been given the things of this earth to become a steward and a manager over that which Jehovah God has entrusted us with as we live.

  • Maybe we are an owner of a company.  We may think the company belongs to us, but it does not; it is God’s from the beginning, loaned to us in order to bring honor to Him.
  • Maybe we are an employee for a company.  We may think we have earned the right to claim our position in the company (through our pursuit of education or through our climb up the ladder of success), but this is not true; our position is God’s from the beginning, orchestrated by God for us in order to bring honor to Him.
  • Maybe we are an educator, a worker with someone else’s most precious possession—their children, and we see the task before us and sometimes find a complaint upon our lips, but we have been entrusted with God’s most precious creation—humankind;  we who call God our Father “need not be quarrelsome, but [we need to] be kind to all, skillful in teaching,” because ultimately our life is not ours but God’s whom we are called to obey and honor.
  • Maybe we have been gifted with precious children of our own to love, to hug, and to share time with as we walk throughout our days, and those sweet gifts grow up, gaining independence as they gain age.  As they do, we find sometimes a mountain of testing standing before us as our precious children voice their independence, often butting heads with our own independent way of thinking, OR
  • Maybe we work with others who like to take control, who know they are always right, who often react in foolish ways, as the heat of the moment rises & as our blood pressure begins to bubble up inside us, we do not need to look too far to know how we are to react. The Word of God clearly reminds us what we are to do—be “patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition,” because when we react with patience, reacting as Jesus taught us to be, in doing so, we bring honor to our Father.

“The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, skillful in teaching, patient when wronged,
with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,
and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.”

(2 Timothy 2: 24-26 NASB)

We face challenging situations and quarrelsome people every single day we live.

We find ourselves down in the trenches of hard work every day we draw breath.

We find this truth:  From the very beginning of time, our purpose is clear (the purpose of God’s children). We are to bring honor to God in all that we do!

WHAT ARE WE DOING, if we are not serving God?!!!  &

WHAT ARE WE DOING, if we are not honoring our HEAVENLY FATHER every moment of every day?!!!

We are blessed by God—we have received God’s grace and salvation.

We are entrusted by Almighty God—we have been given people to know and to love & we have received an amazing privilege to give back to God through the people we have been given to work with & to know.

We can bring the Amazing Wonderfulness of JESUS into the space of every moment of every day—if we live to serve and honor our Father rather than ourselves and our own selfish agendas.

We can lead others to see God’s Hope—through the tasks we do with our hands, with the words we have been given to speak, with the ministries we have been given to do.

We (those who have received God’s amazing gift of salvation) have one single reason for remaining upon this earth after our own belief, confession, repentance, & salvation—to help others we come into contact with—SEE JESUS!

  • May we take seriously the task we have been given to do!
  • May we help the world SEE JESUS—who is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life” & the only path a lost one can take to the Father. John 14:6 speaks this so clearly.

In doing so, the Bible clearly tells us that “God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, . . .”

  • May we decide today where our loyalty rests.
  • May we bend down upon our knees asking God for his forgiveness for the times we have selfishly lived for our own daily agenda.
  • May we lift up those names (over and over) who we know need an encounter with Jesus, who have not yet put their faith in Jesus.

“the devil has them “held captive by him to do his will.”

  • May we ask God for opportunities to “show” others Jesus in all that we do.
  • May we ask God for opportunities to “tell” others the Good News about our Savior Jesus.

The words of John Wesley, a bond-servant of God, ring with truth—

“You have nothing to do but to [lead others to SEE JESUS who] saves souls,

Therefore spend and be spent in this work [in leading others to encounter JESUS].”

“The Lord’s bond-servant must not be . . ., but [must] be . . .”

WHAT ARE WE DOING, if we are not serving GOD?!!! &

WHAT ARE WE DOING, if we are not honoring our HEAVENLY FATHER?!!!

Every moment of Every day.
