Do We Have Eyes To SEE God? & Do We Have Ears To HEAR God? & Do We Walk In Close Relationship With God?
Whenever I think of God, oftentimes it’s difficult to see within my mind the whole vastness of God. My brain is just not large enough (right now, this side of heaven). In the day that God calls us home and when we stand before our Father God, then that will be only the first day of an eternity of days in heaven.
From that day (when we leave this earth and when God moves us into the eternity of the afterlife),
Yes, Until That Last Breath on This Earth,
We have a task to do.
We must study God’s Word.
We must talk with our LORD.
We must listen to God’s instruction.
And we must understand God’s direction, His will, with the clarity of our spiritual eyes and ears God provides.
Day-by-day…….that’s how we walk with our LORD. Moment-by-moment……..that’s how we learn and trust God’s leading.
As a teacher of English, it’s a rare occasion when I am NOT talking literature or writing. They consume my days, my hours, and my minutes.
Constantly, the world of English is filled with the words & the meaning of what we read & what we hear & what we see.
God knows our human existence is limited because God created us.
God knows we will not fully understand everything this side of eternity.
God knows that IF we accept His offer of salvation and repent of our sins as we believe in Him, THEN God tells us we will share eternity in His presence.
God knows we need to focus daily upon Him.
So, today, I am focused upon these rhetorical questions.
1. How can the world of unbelievers SEE God through us & How can believers walk closer with God during our existence on earth UNLESS our eyes are focused on God?
2. How can the world of unbelievers HEAR God through us & How can believers walk closer with God, understanding God’s will for our existence on earth UNLESS our ears are attuned to God?
We cannot.
—–Unbelievers may not SEE or HEAR or even Care WHO we follow, &
—–As Believers, we may not fully discern what God will have us SEE or HEAR……
In How we are to go,
In Where we are to go,
Or even Why we need to go to a new place of service, OR
When is the right time to go, OR EVEN
What we are to do during our time on earth…….UNLESS our eyes & ears are upon God.
In the Old Testament, the invading armies fought against Israel time and again. It was in the moments of their daily existence that believers in God learned how to follow God.
***They kept their eyes upon God.
“O our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You” (2 Chronicles 20: 12).
In the Old Testament, the children of Israel would have stood at the border and never stepped into the land promised to them by God if they had not listened for God’s instruction. It was in the moments of their daily existence that believers in God learned how to follow God.
***They kept their ears attuned to God.”Go near and hear all that the LORD our God says; then speak to us all that the LORD our God speaks to you, and we will hear and do it” (Deuteronomy 5: 27).
It is a truth that those who wander in lostness, who still walk in darkness, who remain turned away from God may not SEE God & they may not HEAR God UNLESS we (children of God) verbally share God with them.
***Without a doubt, the world will not care to know WHO we know or WHO we follow UNTIL they know that we care. &
We show them that we care by being the eyes & ears & hands & feet of Jesus in this lost and dying world.
God left us in this world (this side of eternity) for a reason. We are to love the world as we share Jesus with them.
We are to spend time in God’s Word and on our knees.
May we take serious our task.
May we study God’s Word.
May we listen to God’s teaching and His direction.
May we see and hear from God. &
May we go wherever God leads. &
May we speak to whomever God leads us to speak to today.
May we be sober-minded as we live this side of eternity.
May we see the world before us.
May we hear the cries of this world before us.
May we minister unto them to meet their needs.
BUT ALSO,
May we remember our LORD’S teaching when He sent out the believers (2 by 2). When they returned to report their work, we see and hear our LORD’S words—–
“Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you (meaning…all the things we are able to do), but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven” (Luke 10: 20).
Truly, there is no better time than the present to begin Seeing & Hearing & Knowing that our Salvation, our Relationship, our Future, our Eternity IS Secure in heaven…….in our LORD.
Let us rejoice today in that fact.
Let us shout praises to the King of Kings.
Let us thank God daily and throughout our days for His most glorious salvation. &
Then may we BE the Hands & Feet of Jesus to the world.
