Prayer is power. Prayer is praise. Prayer is filled with emotions. Prayer gives power to the one suffering and to the one in deep despair. Prayer cries out to the only One, to God, who can create everything out of nothing.  Prayer recognizes the only Living God who is the only One who transcends death and darkness and hatred and fear and pain and inner-turmoil.

Prayer changes the world.

Prayer changes me.

Prayer changes you.

Prayer changes EVERYTHING!!!

Prayer praises the God who loves. Prayer praises Jehovah God, the only living God. Prayer glorifies the One God who sustains.  Prayer thanks the One who saves. Prayers raised in desperation cry out to the only God who can….do anything & all things.

Prayer says, “God, help ________.  Place a hedge of protection around ________. And God, give ________ eyes to see You God.”

Prayer is power.

Prayer is filled with the promises of Almighty God for His children. Prayer was offered by the children of Israel, and prayer must be offered by you and me. Prayer is God’s power revealed. Yes, there is power in prayer.

Are we praying today? Are we stopping in the grocery store and openly praying for our friends when they see us, when they stop us in aisle 14, and when they beckon us to pray?

Are we writing prayers to those God places on our hearts, bravely sending text messages to those we love, mailing prayer notes to those who are hurting, and those God gives to us to know?

Are we writing down names onto our prayer lists? Are we writing prayer requests and then drawing circles around those requests, not leaving the circles we have drawn, but staying inside the circles, praying, crying out to God with our all? Are we pleading with God to do “whatever it takes” to open someone’s eyes? Are we believing He will?

Prayer meetings can become choir meetings. Prayer meetings can be meetings of two—God & you and God & me, together inside our prayer closet. Prayer meetings can occur inside our vehicles as we drive. Battlefields can become choir lofts.Offices can become places to meet God in prayer.

God can defeat warring armies with single notes lifted in praise. God can do…..whatever He decides…..because He IS GOD!!! God can cause enemies to flee, to turn upon their own, to be defeated with shouts, with trumpets blaring, and with songs.

Jehoshaphat knew the power of God. He was fully aware that God could…….DO the Whatever! So when Jehoshaphat stood in the house of the LORD, in the midst of all the people and declared God’s power, Jehoshaphat obeyed.
“And he said, ‘O LORD, the God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens?  And are You not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand so that no one can stand against You.  Did You not, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel and give it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever?'” (2 Chronicles 20: 5-7).
And then a brief time after, “When he (Jehoshaphat) had consulted with the people, he appointed those who sang to the LORD and those who praised Him in holy attire, as they went out before the army and said, ‘Give thanks to the LORD, for His lovingkindness is everlasting.’  When they began singing and praising, the LORD set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were routed….” (2 Chronicles 20: 21-22).

Yes, He is good. God is God. God is the ONLY true and Almighty God. Will we praise Him in the morning when we arise? Will we praise Him at lunch when we pause to eat? And will we praise Him in the evening when we lay our head down to rest, thanking God for His protection and guidance throughout our day?

Jesus. Father God. Holy Spirit.

All day long. Praise God. Praise Him in our fears. Praise Him in our despair. Praise Him for the good days, & praise Him when we survive the bad.
