A walk through life toward eternity

The Most Glorious PERSON & Place We Will Ever SEE

Can you close your eyes and see the most beautiful place you have ever been? Can you remember attempting to capture that sight through the lens of your camera? Why is it that beauty oftentimes exists close beside the calm and peace of a sea, of what we can see?

A few days ago, Sydney shared with me a photo of one of the most beautiful places she had traveled. (I must admit that I could not remember which daughter shared the photo, but Marieke claimed it was not her. Sydney gave a name to the place, identifying it was indeed her shared photo.)
Both girls enjoy traveling and scenery photos, and so, I was blessed to have many choices of photos when choosing THE PHOTO for the top of the blog that began last week.
In searching for the photo, I knew what I wanted to see, and I also knew this place needed to represent a journey I Wanted to See. So, it was not surprising when I chose one of a path leading toward The Sea. Theese large bodies of water separate us from where we want to be and who we want to see.

What is the most beautiful place we have ever seen? Sydney claims it is a place called Sylt located in the northernmost region of Germany near Denmark. As you see the photo situated at the top of this blog, you can be the judge to see if you agree that this could be the most beautiful place to see.
In considering this question (of the most glorious place ever), the idea of what lays claim to our answer to this question is what causes me to write today. During church yesterday, the pastor asked a similar question.

****What will heaven be like? He said many asked him that question.

Will heaven be more beautiful than where we live? Most definitely—-YES.

Will heaven be more beautiful than our greatest travels? Most assuredly—-YES.

Will heaven be a place we visit and then want to leave, to return back to this temporary home? Most definitely—-NOT.

In a study through the gospel of Luke, I have discovered many truths. One such truth Luke shared (a man who also held the position of a physician, a man who had much to say about our body) was this truth.  Our eyes are vital to see, and most of us would not wish to exist without the use of our eyes.
During the time Jesus walked on earth, prior to His crucifixion, He traveled from place to place; yet, He knew where He was going during His time on earth and Jesus knew where He needed to be in order for God’s ultimate redemptive plan to be exacted.
Jesus knew He needed to go to Jerusalem, and Jesus knew the exact time He should arrive.
Jesus allowed others to travel ahead of Him to the places, the cities and villages, and to report back about their work while there.

Where have we journeyed during our time here on earth?  Have we journeyed where Jesus allowed us to go? Have we reported about the work Jesus allowed us to do while there? Would we journey back to the work Jesus gave to us for a second visit? Was one time going there, seeing this beautiful place He sent us….enough?

Heaven is a place where we will someday go. Those who believe God and who know Jesus as Savior will go there when their life-journey is complete. Yesterday in class, I mentioned that the occasions when I stood next to the bed of someone I love as they passed from this life into eternity were the most wonderful days of my life calendar.   I would not ever give away those memories.   Why? That so easy.
When we die, all of us will leave this place and travel to our final eternal destination we have chosen. This eternal destination is one of our own choosing.  YES. This place is the answer to the most important question we will ever answer. This place is the answer to the question, the one Jesus asks us. When we say “Yes” to Jesus, this eternal destination is the one we follow as we walk the path, as we journey to that promise land.

It is a reality.

It is a place, a real destination.

It is one we will clearly see.

We ALL will travel somewhere on their final earth day, and NO ONE will escape this journey. NO ONE. Not anyone.

Truly, there are only two destinations—-One toward Jesus in heaven

OR. the destination toward hell.
The Bible (in the gospel of Luke), the gospel written by a man who understood the details of our earthly body.   In that gospel, we see that Luke was detailed in his description of our walk, of our life, while here on earth. In chapter 10, Jesus allowed people to travel, to see the region He was going as Jesus moved toward Jerusalem.
“The seventy returned with joy…” (the ones Jesus sent ahead of Him “in pairs to “every city and place where He Himself was going to come…”) “saying, ‘LORD, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.’And He (Jesus) said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice your names are recorded in heaven” (Luke 10: 1 & 17-20).

What is the most beautiful place you have ever traveled? Maybe you are like me (a believer, a Christian) and you know that heaven is your final destination. Maybe (like the pastor said yesterday), you cannot even imagine the beauty of heaven. Yet, think about what Luke said about HOW our name gets on the list to enter. Our name “must be recorded in heaven” (verse 20).

Quite assuredly, we know we will stay forever once we arrive, and we also know we would never want to leave, to return back to earth because to arrive in heaven is to finally arrive HOME.
In the purest truth of all, we will be in the presence of our LORD, of our Savior, of our God…And we will have finally reached the most wondrously, beautiful place of ALL….the feet of Jesus.
Jesus purchased my ticket.

Jesus asked me if I wanted to come to Him.

I said Yes.

I accepted His glorious offer of salvation.

Jesus, Himself, wrote down my name in heaven.

The Bible says so. Have you?

Who do we know who has not yet accepted Jesus’ offer of salvation?
On this day, we can show them the way. On this day, we share the Bible with them and show them how Jesus can record their name in heaven. On this day, we can introduce them to the most glorious PERSON of ALL so they too can See.

HE HAS A NAME & HIS NAME IS JESUS.
