Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Living—Dripping Wet—Sloshing Out the Living Water—for Jesus!

We must live—We must walk—We must drip water droplets as we go!  Yes, you read correctly, but maybe we should go back, re-read the previous statements.

WE MUST LIVE—WET!

WE MUST WALK—SLOSHING WATER!

WE MUST DRIP WATER DROPLETS ALONG OUR EARTHLY PATH—AS WE GO!

WE MUST ALLOW OTHERS TO SEE JESUS LIVING IN & THROUGH US!

Now, dear friend, you have two choices:  keep reading to see why or click the “X” and end your reading of this devotion right now.

Well, if you are reading this line, then let’s get to it—Why must we live—all wet?  &  Why must we walk through live—sloshing out water?  & Why must we drip water droplets along our earthly path—as we go (through this one life we have been given to live)?

  • The answer is Jesus Christ died to make me free.
  • The reason is the love of God saved me.
  • The result is the Holy Spirit now lives within me.

Jesus did the same for you, too.

FATHER, SON of GOD, & HOLY SPIRIT.  The reason we are to walk through life—WET—is because the living water of God resides in you & me once we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior.  However, no person should never believe me, but every person should ALWAYS believe God and God’s Holy Word.

SEE WITH ME.

“I have been crucified with Christ;  and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me;  and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

(Galatians 2:20)

When I was a pre-teen, I had an opportunity to go on a few missionary journeys to Zanesville, Ohio.  Now, maybe you are wondering “why Zanesville,” and I had never been there before, so I wandered that too, but I was a kid and excited about the prospect of serving as a missionary for God, even if the location was just ten hours away from home.  During the first missionary journey, I climbed into a church van with several other girls (two adults and three teens), and we traveled to Zanesville to serve God in that small community.  I am ever reminded of that journey every single day I drive to Campbellsville University because two of those three teenage girls now work on that same campus:  Jeanette & me.  Truly, I am so amazed how God works within the smallness of our lives to reveal Himself to us.  That first missionary journey changed me, set afire a desire to serve God, and propelled my future days as a BELIEVER.

Then, on the second missionary journey to Zanesville, the dynamics of the group changed, but still a few constants remained (this journey included the same two adults—Shirley and Loretta & a teen—me—but on this second missionary journey, a new Christian named Darrell joined the group.  Every morning when I arise, I am gifted with Darrell’s voice and face because we now share a marriage of thirty-six years.  Truly, I am so amazed how God works within the smallness of our lives to reveal Himself to us.  That second missionary journey changed me, reignited the fire in me, creating a desire to serve God, and that journey propelled my future days as a BELIEVER.

Changing is not easy.  Neither is changing our minds, easy.  We stumble around throughout life like little children, stumbling, falling down, falling upon our knees, and if we pause long enough while down there, upon our knees, then we can share time in conversation with our Heavenly Father.  God invites us to remember that He is the one who has been our Father since we were first born again into His Family.  God Has!  Most amazingly, God will continue to carry us forevermore, straight from this life into the eternal realm of eternity within His presence.  Today, I am reminded of this simple but profound truth—“No, LORD” is never a phrase that should ever come from my being.  “No, LORD” is an oxymoron, a total contradiction of thoughts!  Those two words cannot co-exist.  How can God be my LORD and not be the LORD of my days, of my thoughts, or my words, of my actions, of my staying put, or of my going out wherever He leads me to go?  God must be the LORD of Me & Friend, God must be the LORD of You.  We are to be hopelessly devoted to His will.  Let us hear those words again.

WE ARE TO BE HOPELESSLY DEVOTED TO GOD’S WILL!

Paul recorded these words, (the very words I was given to memorize through song during my first missionary journey to Zanesville, Ohio).  Truly, I am so amazed how God works within the smallness of our lives to reveal Himself to us.

RE-SEE THOSE WORDS WITH ME.

“I have been crucified with Christ;” — [I have been because I know Jesus is my LORD and He knows me]

“And it is no longer I who live,”— [No!  My will should not be the most important decision, but God’s will]

“but Christ lives in me;”[God saved me & now God’s Holy Spirit lives inside me]

“and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God,”— [The living water of God dwells within me, so God’s living water must drip out of me, yes, must slosh out of me onto those who know me]

who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” —  [God did.  God sent His Only Son to die on the cross for you & for me!  God did that for us!]  (Galatians 2:20)

Today, I do not know if there will be a third missionary journey, but that is what I am currently praying over these days.  Nevertheless, I am compelled to remember today that I am to live today—tomorrow—the next tomorrow—and every single day of the rest of my life—as a living vessel, a living sacrifice, filled to the brim with the living water of Jesus, dripping wet, and sloshing out the “living water” onto everyone I meet & onto everything I say and do.  And so are you too because as BELIEVERS, we have been REDEEMED, and because we have, we BELONG to the FAMILY of GOD.

I heard a most wonderful melody titled “SO GOOD” by the Christian group, DOE.  This melody of song reminds us of the beautiful reason we should walk throughout this life—dripping out the living water of Jesus.   Please listen with me today.

“So good

So good

So good . . .

Ooh it’s Your love

It’s Your love

It’s Your love

Chasing after me.

You are good, good, good—My God—You’re so GOOD.

And You are good, good, good—God You’re so GOOD.

In all things.  At all times—You are good, good, good.

My God—My God. You are So GOOD.

You have opened up my eyes and now I can see! . . .

It’s Your love that’s alive in me. . . .

Every sustaining!  More than enough!

My great provider!  All that I need!

Hold me together in perfect peace!

Umh!!  Your perfect peace!”

You are good, good, good—My God—You’re so GOOD.

And You are good, good, good—My God You’re so GOOD.

In all things.  At all times—You are good, good, good.

My God—My God.  You are So GOOD.

Therefore, let us live— “crucified with Christ” —Living for Him— “but [for] Christ who lives with me” [and you]—and as we live in this flesh, let us “live by faith in the Son of God,”—because it is Jesus Himself who “gave Himself up for me”  [and for you].
