Believe To See & Live!
Next Friday at 2:55, the phone will ring, changing our life forever.
Tomorrow at 9:32, there is a surprise coming to us, pleasing us, making us smile.
Three months from today, an email will arrive, sent to us, altering us for the rest of our days.
Physically, we see so much as we live (within the power of our eyes we possess as humans).
Physically, we struggle to walk across a busy, city street, alone and in darkness.
Physically, we cannot walk across the sea, from continent to continent, without help.
We need sight and we need transportation.
To physically walk from here to there, we need the aide of some guidance—HELP to show us the way.
To physically travel across the vast body of waters, we need the ship and airline captains and train conductors–DOING the work they know to do—PROVIDING us a way.
Only then, can we be moved from HERE to THERE.
In studying the Word of God, we find that our faith, our trust, our hope in God can be (somewhat) compared to sight and to transportation. In reading God’s Word, we find how we are able to experience our bodily (physical & spiritual) movement—From THIS PLACE to THAT PLACE.
Please stay with me for a moment.
It is a truth that a great many people LIVE by what they can Physically SEE. They physically look with their human eyes at their present lives and SEE no HOPE.
No job prospects,
No spousal partners,
No health improvements,
No close friendships,
No educational opportunities,
No money to get ahead of the monthly bills—NO HOPE.
The problem with LIVING by what we can PHYSICALLY SEE is that we Live Hopelessly.
FAITH comes when we LIVE by what we BELIEVE—NOT by what we can SEE!
Music of all genres can be enjoyed, and although the musicality of “RAP” does not always appeal to me, one particular melody speaks of walking in Faith by what we cannot physically SEE. “We Against The World” by Hulvey—Christopher (featuring Andy Mineo) includes this lyric:
“Walk by faith and not by sight.
If it’s going to be ME & You, then it’s WE against the world.”
God’s Word is a melody to our souls, the TRUTH of GOD that speaks of living by FAITH and not by sight. It is God Himself who reminds us—HE (alone) is the ONE who provides for our every need (our salvation, our present eternity as we walk with Him, and our eternal destination). Truly, as we walk through this, our present earthly life, the Holy Spirit of God provides us His Divine intervention—IF WE BELIEVE IN HIM. Please, today, do not believe me; READ with me & SEE.
“Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord—for we walk by faith, not by sight—we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.
Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, [in heaven with the Lord] to be pleasing to Him.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed [judged & repaid] for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad [whether man believes & receives Jesus as Savior or not, for He is the Only One who is Good].
Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, [the eternal Salvation God offers us] we persuade men, but we are made manifest to God; . . .
For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, [JESUS CHRIST died for mankind, for each one of us] therefore all died; and He died for all, so that they who live [those who are eternally saved] might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.”
(2 Corinthians 5: 6-15)
Truly—“We live by believing and not by seeing.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)
When we hear about the eternal life Jesus offers, we tend to think these words are the Way to get us into heaven after we die, and that is true. Conversely, eternal life is not only endless life without death, but also eternal life fully experienced from the moment of our Salvation gifted to us through OUR BELIEF IN JESUS & through our BELIEF IN WHO WE CANNOT PHYSICALLY SEE with our earthly eyes. (That is not to say we cannot see the proof of God in our world because one walk into nature, and WE SEE GOD!).
Through our faith—through the Word of God—through God’s Holy Spirit—through God in us—we receive a foretaste of heaven.
God’s Word is not limited by space or by time.
God’s Word transcends what is visible (what can be seen with our eyes).
God’s Word transports us to a heavenly realm (where we walk daily in relationship with God’s only Son—with Jesus).
Every moment or every day, God orchestrates trillions of details, moving heaven and earth, accomplishing His Divine Will. Let us walk by Faith and not by sight. Let us give a confession of our Faith to others as Peter.
“So Jesus said to the twelve, “You do not want to go away also, do you?”
Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life.
We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.”
(John 6: 67-69)
