May We NOT Turn It Around!
Often, we have heard these two terms spoken—-
A Crack Pot & A Cracked Pot.
While one is modern-day slang, the other is spiritual.
While one brings such deep sadness, the other brings a deeper joy in the LORD.
While one leads a person down a road of despair and sorrow, the other leads a person to fulfillment and spiritual blessings.
Now maybe if you are reading this, you think I have lost my mind, and maybe that is true; nevertheless, this morning a truth was revealed to me, a truth that was not new to me but one that has been speaking daily to my heart, soul, and mind.
Go with me first to the outdoors. See the springtime in our minds. Feel the soft breeze of the gentle wind as the May day blows against our skin. Feel the trowel in our garden-gloved hands as we step toward the newly purchased plants and the peat moss we hope will provide the young plants with nourishment and moisture. If we are faithful to water our tiny plants and to make sure that the hot afternoon sun rays do not beat down upon them, then our tiny plants have a much better chance of survival. There is much biblical truth to be found in the sowing, planting, watering, and caring for the seed that which is sown; however, today, I would like to focus upon the tiny pot that holds our tender plant.
Is it a cracked pot that’s been discarded?
Is it a pot that seeps water, so it has been tossed aside?
Is it a pot that is unwilling to be molded?
OR—Is our pot a malleable, useful, vessel that can be used by the Potter?
AND, WHO is this POTTER—Who lovingly molds the clay into a worthy vessel?!!!
Let’s set the record straight before more is said about this topic. I am a pot with several cracks, and if you are honest, so are you. Here is the most beautiful truth!
The Potter takes the clay and molds the clay into a most beautiful vessel, but the heat of the world, the trials, the sins committed, and the elements found outdoors, outside the comfort and care of one’s home can cause our pots to become cracked. When that occurs, does the Potter toss aside the cracked pot OR does the Potter re-shape and re-mold the pot, smoothing out the areas that are seeping, that are strained, that are fractured AND re-make them into something brand new, something useful for His seed?!!!!!!!!!
Do not believe the words I can ever say but believe the valid and Holy Word of God.
Isaiah was led by God to speak to the children of Israel. Oftentimes, we can come to feel self-sufficient and forget WHO created us.
“Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the LORD,
(Isaiah 29: 15-16)
And whose deeds are done in a dark place,
And they say, ‘Who sees us?’ or ‘Who knows us?’
You turn things around!
Shall the Potter be considered as equal with the clay,
That what is made would say to its maker, ‘He did not make me’ ;
Or what is formed say to Him who formed it, ‘He has no understanding’?”
We are made by the loving hands of our Creator.
We are fashioned within God’s omniscient Holy hands.
We are His!
We cannot turn it around!
We are not the ones who mold and fashion our lives; GOD IS! GOD IS THE POTTER & we are the clay!
We are flawed.
We are decaying due to the elements and the heat and the stressors of the world. We are not created to live within this earthly body forever because it began decaying the moment it was conceived. We need the LORD’S HANDS upon our broken and cracked vessel (upon our body).
We need our eyes focused upon the Potter daily!
We need the Potter’s loving touch!
We need Jesus!
And we need JESUS every single day!
There is so much the Potter wants to do, to accomplish through us. What does He ask of us?
We are to be willing.
We are to belong to Him.
We are to be faithful.
We are to be obedient.
The psalmist wrote of God—
“Your hands made me and fashioned me;
(Psalm 119: 73-74)
Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments.
May those who fear You see me and be glad,
Because I wait for Your Word.”
The Newsboys sing a beautiful melody titled “Clean,” and a lyric from this melody today—
“God you’re strong when I’m weak/I need Your grace to help me see/That I’m no longer a slave to me/I’ve been washed/I’ve been set free/You make me clean/Better than new/God, You do/You make me clean/I know it’s the truth/God, You do/You make me brand new/YOU MAKE ME CLEAN!”
May we remember our Maker, our Creator!
May we be malleable!
May we become a worthy vessel within the Potter’s hands!
May we take on the shape He designs us to be!
May we not become hardened, cracked, and may we not resist Him!
May we remember we are the clay and God is our heavenly Potter!
May we not turn it around!
