Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Being YOU & Being ME—We Are Called to Become HIS

There are some things I am not.  Then, truly, there are some things you are not, and that is okay because we were not necessarily called to become that which we were—NOT.  For example, clearly I am NOT—

1. A Tall Individual—but maybe you stand 5’9″ in height.
2.  A Smoker—but maybe you developed the habit when you were young and never quit.
3.  A Painter—but maybe your favorite thing to do on any given day is to journey to the paint store to see what new color could adorn your walls.
4.  A Crafty Person—but maybe you spend time on social media sites, scrolling and looking for your next project.
5.  A From-Scratch Baker–but maybe you enjoy purchasing and owning stacks of cookbooks that describe in detail, step-by-step the next new sweetness to be created and shared.

Amazingly, God, in all His greatness, made each one of us—Uniquely Different, and that’s okay.   GOD also does not call us collectively but individually.  Yes, God spoke to my heart, and he speaks to your heart one-to-one.
It’s An Individual Calling.

So why do we insist on COMPARISON & COMPETITION?
So why do we insist on
SIZING UP OURSELVES IN COMPARISON TO THE PERSON WHO SITS BESIDE US AT WORK?
STRIVING TO KEEP UP WITH ANOTHER’S STANDARDS?  OR
SEEKING TO ACCOMPLISH THAT WHICH WE WERE NOT INDIVIDUALLY CALLED TO DO?

God wants you.
God wants me.
God wants the next person.
Individually.

That means God came to earth, left the glory of heaven, took on human form, lived within human flesh, walked in obedience, willingly died upon the cross, stayed buried in his tomb for three days, arose to new life on the first day of the week, walked again upon earth for forty days, allowed Himself to be seen by more than 500 people, & ascended back to heaven to sit down next to the Father.
He did all of that for YOU & for ME & for all of HUMANITY because Jesus Christ offers an—

INDIVIDUAL CALLING TO KNOW HIM AS SAVIOR.
GOD WANTS YOU TO KNOW HIM INTIMATELY.
GOD WANTS ME TO KNOW HIM INTIMATELY.
GOD WANTS EACH OF US TO RUN OUR INDIVIDUAL, INTIMATE RACE, FOLLOWING HIM WHEREVER HE LEADS US—-PERSONALLY—-TO GO, TO DO, & TO BE.

So today, let us stop feeling pressured to BE that which we were never called to BE.
So today, let us stop attempting to run another’s race which we were never called to RUN.
So today, let us stop trying to make our life look like anyone else’s, lives we were never called to LIVE.
And let us start today living for our LORD, SAVIOR, & REDEEMER.
God has a purpose, a different purpose for each ONE of us, that’s okay.  That’s exactly as God Intended.
So, the truth is not found in reading my words but in reading and knowing the Word of God
In the Old Testament we read:

“I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.”

(Psalm 139:  14-16)

God Knew Us First.
God Knows Us.
God Wants Us To Choose to Know Him Intimately.

In the New Testament we read:

“For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
For it is written,
“I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE,
AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE.”
Where is the wise man?  Where is the scribe?  Where is the debater of this age?  Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? . . .
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. . . .
But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that , just as it is written, “LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD.”

(1 Corinthians 1: 18-20 & 25 & 30-31)

Today, let us stop striving to become that which we are NOT, and let us seek to become that which God called us from the beginning to BE—HIS CHILD.
