The Power Found in the “Projectory” of Words
WHAT are we doing?
WHAT daily plan should be our goal?
WHERE are we going?
WHAT daily decisions keep us pointed and walking in the right direction?
WHEN should we begin?
Should we even care to begin, or can we postpone as if there’s plenty of time?
Does it really matter HOW we live as long as we live out our faith better than the one who does not yet believe?
HOW could we ever wish to become less than what the LORD wants for our lives?
WHO—–DETERMINES EVERYTHING! & WHY—–DETERMINES EVERYTHING!
Even though “projectory” is not a recognized word, it really should be BECAUSE—The Power Found in the “Projectory” of Words.
“You should go to college,” Ms. Minton said to me as I gathered my things to leave her senior English classroom. “And you need to get signed up to take the ACT. Go to the guidance office. They will help you get signed up.”
Words have the power to change the “projectory” of our lives because although I enjoyed school and working as the sport’s editor for the school’s newspaper, before her words, my love for JROTC and everything attached to it was pulling me toward a military career.
Yes, as a seventeen-year-old senior, I knew where I was headed after graduation, and college was not the place. Then, Ms. Minton spoke to me (maybe in passing without really considering the huge impact her words would have on my future). In writing this today, I realize how I never really said “Thank You” to Ms.Phyllis Minton. Years later, when she retired from teaching, I was there in the hallway with her as she walked out of the building (on her final day of teaching) as I was just beginning my teaching career.
Fast forward from 1984 to 1991 to 2021, and I reached my retirement day from public high school teaching, and I wonder—-Have my spoken words throughout those years of teaching changed the “projectory” of students’ futures as Ms. Minton’s words changed my future. Truly, I can only reply, “I sure hope so.” Yet since we cannot undo our past, we do have the power to change our present day. God has provided me a new teaching venue, one that He seems to have prepared me for since the day His Salvation changed the “projectory” of my soul and eternal destination.
Do not believe me but believe the Bible, God’s Holy Word.
Jesus was teaching one day in the synagogue, and He had healed a woman who suffered for eighteen years with a sickness. Then his opponents began to become angry at the rejoicing seen throughout the crowd. Jesus is God in the flesh; Jesus knew the opponent’s sinful thoughts.
“So He was saying” [Jesus turned directly toward His opponents and asked them a question].
“What is the kingdom of God like, and to what shall I compare it?” (Luke 13: 18)
[Then Jesus (Who is God in the flesh) answered His own question.]
[The kingdom of God]
“It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and threw into his own garden; and it grew and became a tree, and THE BIRDS OF THE AIR NESTED IN ITS BRANCHES.” (Luke 13: 19)(Luke 13: 18-19)
Words change the future.
Our Words Lead Others Toward the Kingdom of God—Or They Do Not.
Words Matter.
Our Words Matter because They Either Reaffirm Our Actions—Or They Do Not.
Thank You, God for speaking to my heart, for saving my soul.
Thank you, Ms. Minton for speaking your words to me way back then.
WHAT—WHERE—WHEN—HOW
We live & speak to others—-Matters!
WHO & WHY—-Matters even MORE!
WHO? God deserves our total devotion!
WHY? People are dying every day, separated from the kingdom of God!
Jesus does deserve our devotion.
Jesus died and then rose to life—-Providing the ONLY “projectory” of a future that will ever matter—-Eternity with God.
Today, September 30, the last day of the month is a great day to begin anew.
“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the LORD Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”
(Colossians 3: 17)
