Favorite Holiday…..For Sure!!!!
Would God find joy in a particular calendar month? A specific holiday? I think so. Now maybe our minds are scrambling, searching through, running each calendar page, pausing to ponder—
To the enthusiastic one, he says—It’s probably Christmas.
However, to the traditional thinking one, he states—But could it be Easter?
Or to the patriot—Maybe it’s freedom associated with the 4th of July.
And then there’s the prankster who laughingly wonders—Is it February ‘s Groundhog Day?
Yet, it is not any of those days, but another holiday, in fact a most important holiday.
So the responsible one exclaims—It must be Labor Day, but he too is wrong concerning the holiday that God may just claim to be His favorite.
In reading God’s Word this week, I am beginning to see that God quite possibly does have a month and holiday that brings Him more joy than the rest, a holiday and calendar God just loves to celebrate. Stay here with me for a moment. Really! Truthfully, there is a serious point, a truth that has come to me as I have studied Scripture.
The sower scatters seed if he wants to reap.
The sower reaps a weak crop when he grudgingly sows his seed.
Yet the sower who broadcasts his seed wide and far will reap a bountiful harvest.
However, it is a TRUTH, each sower must sow seed as God purposes, as God leads the sower to sow, and the sower must find joy as he scatters his seed because God knows the intent of the sower’s heart. Yes. God, the Master Gardener, leads us into the fields we are to go, to do the work He commissions us (individually) to do, providing for us, meeting our needs, taking care of us, as we walk through this life, our one walk as we head toward home.
Why?…..Why does the one who scatters seed need to scatter the seed as God purposes Him to do?
Why? &
Why…..Why we might ask, does it matter our heart’s intent, when we think—-All we really need is a strong back to carry the seed bag, a moving arm to broadcast the seed, and legs to carry us throughout the field as we walk from one end of the field to the other end?
Joy. Grace. Sufficiency. A Sundance. God’s Righteous Increase.
Yes it matters to God, especially in the act of sowing and when considering God’s favorite holiday. For sure, the harvest is found upon the calendar—-Thanksgiving—-found within our calendar month of November.
But do not believe me; instead, read with me God’s Word.
“Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
(2 Corinthians 9: 6-15)
Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed; as it is written, ‘HE SCATTERED ABROAD, HE GAVE TO THE POOR, HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ENDURES FOREVER.’
Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness; you will be enriched in everything for all liberality; which through us is producing thanksgiving to God.
For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints; but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God.
Because of the proof given by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all, while they also, by prayer on your behalf, yearn for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you.
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”
God sends His children out into the fields—-Daily.
God searches the hearts of the lost, leading His children to the fertile ground ready for growth—-Every Day.
God prepares hearts to receive His Word, and God allows His children to carry the seed of His Word within their seed bag, and God leads His children into the fields He has already prepared—-Most Definitely!
God Prepares.
God Creates.
God Sends.
God Leads.
God Allows.
God Provides.
God Causes.
God Does Everything! In fact, God ALREADY HAS FINISHED EVERYTHING!!!
We need to do so little. We only need to OBEY GOD, to walk WITH GOD, to reach onto our seed bag & pull out HIS SEED (the Word of God), and to SCATTER HIS SEED—–As we go throughout our moments, our days, our weeks, our months, our years, and our lives.
Then God blesses us in return because we can stand back—-AMAZED!!!—-as we stand & watch God’s most amazing holiday unfold—-Thanksgiving—–as God gathers His harvest of lost souls through His sweet, amazing grace!!!!
“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! [God’s Salvation]” (15).
