Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

The Beauty & Amazement Found In God’s Change

We do some tasks well and some other tasks not as well, but have we ever truly wondered WHY that is so?
We do some tasks without much thought given, as to HOW we do those particular tasks well, and why other tasks we cannot perform as well?
Most likely, if we can currently do these tasks that we are doing well—right now—then it is probably true that we learned to do our tasks, and WHEN we did, we spent time practicing to perfect our new skill because (it is a truth) we enjoy doing what we know we do well…..Right?
WHAT tasks do we accomplish—-Well?  &  From WHERE does that ability come from, to perform and to perfect particular tasks?

  • Breaking free, letting go of what we have done for so long, what seems like a second nature, something we know like the “back of our hand”—It Is Horribly Difficult—IF IT’S OUR FIRST TIME WALKING FOWARD IN A NEWNESS that we’ve never done before and maybe never even imagined doing.
  • Leaving the security, maybe being gently nudged away from what has always held us sure, and learning to fly—-It Is Totally Scary—-IF IT’S OUR FIRST TIME MOVING OUR WINGS IN THIS UP & DOWN MOTION and swooping across the land in this particular way.
  • Turning over the ignition in a new vehicle & Sensing the rumble of a new engine surrounding us, Shifting the vehicle into 1st gear, Slowly Releasing the clutch as we gently press the throttle, & Signaling to others that we are Pulling out into the road to drive—-It Is Totally Frightening—-IF IT’S OUR FIRST TIME “BEHIND THE WHEEL” of this particular vehicle and driving.

Breaking Free to GO.
Leaving & Learning to FLY.
Turning, & Shifting, & Pulling Out to DRIVE.

Each “new” task (yes, most definitely, each one) requires a certain amount of courage, & The TRUTH about courage is that it is NOT something we can haphazardly take out of our closet when we arise from bed and wear to work, as we wear our clothing.

Not At All.
Courage comes from within.
Courage requires faith
Courage relies upon obedience.
Courage becomes thankfulness.

There once lived a man (Simon Peter) & Simon Peter was a Fisher by trade.  Peter knew WHY he chose fishing as his career, & Peter knew HOW to fish.  Peter knew WHEN it was the best time to fish,  &  Peter knew WHAT to use as bait when he fished.  Peter also knew WHERE to position his boat each morning when he when out to fish.
Peter KNEW, and Peter felt SECURE in that which he KNEW so well, so why would PETER EVER LEAVE THAT WHICH HE “KNEW” TO BEGIN DOING SOMETHING TOTALLY “NEW”?

I really, really, really, really LOVE the answer!!!!!
You may too—really, really, really, really LOVE the answer!!!!!

“But when Simon Peter saw that [a great quantity of fish, so many fish that his nets were breaking, & so many fish that he had to call over his friends to bring their boats to help with the catch], he fell down at Jesus’ feet, saying, “Go away from me LORD, for I am a sinful man!”
For amazement had seized him and all of his companions because of the catch of fish which they had taken;
And so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon Peter.
And Jesus said to Simon,
“Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men.”

(Luke 5: 8-10)

God’s Holy Spirit stirs our hearts to action.
We are called to obey God’s will for our moments, hours, days, months, years, and lives.
We hear God speak to us, as we sense His Command to follow Him in obedience.
We are led to a brand new task to do during our time upon this earth.
And our friends, family, and career partners see in amazement the way God is changing us from within as He moves us to do new tasks.

Today, as I typed these words, I was gifted with the melody by We The Kingdom & Tasha Cobbs Leonard, a most beautiful melody called “Holy Water.”  I had heard this melody before today, but as I listened today, it was as if I heard the lyrics for the first time. Listen today, if your day allows you time.
“Your Forgiveness”
“Your Grace”
“You Make Me Want to Change”
“OH, Here I am”
“I don’t want to abuse your grace/God, I need it every day/It’s the only thing that ever really makes me want to change.”
“Your forgiveness….is like Holy Water on my skin.”

We should not leave this thought today without internalizing the final verse of Luke chapter 5.
“When they [James and John, the men helping Simon Peter with that miraculous catch of fish], brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him [they willingly followed Jesus wherever He led them].” (Luke 5:11)
May we internalize the truth of God’s Word today.
May we not become stagnant, or stuck, or fearful as we live this life.
May we place our eyes upon Jesus and praise Him for all that He is about to do within our lives.

May we see the Beauty and Amazement, Living in obedience as God Changes Us.
