Even in the HARD, we can be vulnerable BECAUSE of JESUS
“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; . . .”
(The Gospel According to Matthew 10: 16a NASB)
If you have ever seen a snake slither in the grass, waiting to attack OR if you have observed a predator of prey circle high above waiting to swoop down to attack—then you know what Jesus meant when he spoke the words: “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; . . .”
When Jesus spoke this, he was speaking directly to His disciples, instructing them. The road would be hard; Jesus knew this. They would face opposition; Jesus was fully aware how. Their spoken testimony would cause them duress, affliction, and great hardship. Nevertheless, since Jesus knew their futures, each man’s, He reassured them, saying:
“But when they hand you over,
(The Gospel According to Matthew 10: 19-20 NASB)
do not worry about how or what you are to say;
for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say.
For it is not you who speak,
but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.”
Even in the HARD, we can be vulnerable BECAUSE of JESUS.
Hallelujah.
- We can be vulnerable, allowing ourselves to be seen as servants of God.
- We can be compassionate, following the guidance of God’s Spirit.
- We can be bold, allowing our lives to be lived for Jesus.
May you & May I be grounded in our identify as a disciple of Jesus.
May I & May you love those who the Lord has entrusted to our care, even if they disagree with our witness, with our testimony.
“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens,
(The Letter to the Hebrews 4: 14-16 NASB)
Jesus the Son of God,
let us hold fast our confession.
For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses,
but One who has been tempted in all things as we are,
yet without sin.
Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace,
so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Even in the HARD, we can be vulnerable BECAUSE of JESUS.
You can—
- Pour out your heart & boldly approach the throne of God.
You can—
- Know that even when you cannot form the words to pray, the Holy Spirit of God will provide the words.
And You can—
- Trust that God will hear your prayer & that He will respond.
