We who believe are “those also . . .”
This was to be the week they shared their faith, the week they told their testimony of faith, and they seemed excited. Then God sent snow, and our in-person classes were moved on-line. As Thursday drew near, I contemplated what we should do:
- I did not want us to skip a week, for gaps could allow for a break in the spirit we shared.
- I did not want us to be on-line, for a computer screen would never be like sitting across the table as we shared a cup of tea.
On-line was never JUST the same.
What should we do? I questioned. Then I questioned the young ladies in the group to see what they desired?
They were ready to testify, to share their testimonies with the group, but they were open to the idea of waiting until we could be together in the room as we had before during weeks past.
At their discussion of when to meet (an on-line chat, of course, due to the snow), we discussed whether to postpone until next week.
Then the heaviness of this truth settled upon me as I consider these questions—
Do we “put off” sharing our faith, until tomorrow, until next week, until a better time?
OR
Do we share our testimony as the Holy Spirit leads?
On the night Jesus was betrayed by Judas, He talked with His disciples, trying to prepare them for what He knew would be a long night and an even longer three days to come.
Jesus prayed these words over His apostles, asking the Father to protect them in their task as His Disciples in the World—
“As You sent Me into the world,
(The Gospel According to John 17: 18-21 NASB)
I also have sent them into the world.
For their sakes I sanctify Myself,
that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.
I do not ask on behalf of these alone,
but for
those also
who believe in Me through their word;
that they may all be one;
even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You;
that they also may be in Us,
so that the world may believe that You sent Me.”
- We who believe are “those also . . .”
- We who believe are called to share our testimony with the world.
- We who believe are commanded to “GO!”
- We who believe are to share our testimony with others.
- We who believe are to allow ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit.
- We who believe are to not be ashamed of the Gospel message.
We who believe are to speak, to tell the world, to be unashamed of the power of the Gospel, for it is the power to save those who are lost.
Sharing our story of how Jesus saved our soul is the only generational legacy we need to leave in this world. Sure, we can work and save and buy and plan, but if our children, nieces, nephews, students, and neighbors do not know Jesus, then what have we really accomplished during this short time we walk on the face of earth?
- We are to leave a generational legacy of FAITH.
- We are to pass on the FAITH.
- We are to deliver, to be ready to speak of our FAITH in JESUS.
- We are to boldly speak the Gospel—Just as it was shared with us.
“So Jesus, knowing all the things that were coming upon Him,
(The Gospel According to John 18: 4-5a NASB)
went forth and said to them,
“Whom do you seek?”
They answered Him, “Jesus the Nazarene.”
He said to them, “I am He.”
Jesus is He!
We who believe are “those also . . .” who are saved because of the testimony of His disciples.
Let us share the Gospel, unashamedly.
Take time today to listen to “Unashamed” by Matthew West, to really consider the lyric—
“Lord, I will stand for you.
“Unashamed”
I’ll tell the world about You.
I’m unashamed.”
