A walk through life toward eternity

Peace Even During the Effects of a Storm

“But the wicked are like the tossing sea,
For it cannot be quiet,
And its waters toss up refuse and mud.
“There is no peace,“
says my God, “for the wicked.”

(The Book of Isaiah 57: 20-21 NASB)

This entire weekend, from Friday until Monday, the newscasters have reported the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene.  We choose our states of residence, maybe fully expecting that if we live near the sea, a hurricane may strike with a vengeance or if we live near the middle of the country, we may face possible tornados.  What we do not expect to experience is the vengeance and destruction of a hurricane or storm when our homes reside so far away from the tempest.  Nonetheless, this is exactly what we have seen over the past three days when the effects of a hurricane destroyed lives as far north as Kentucky.

  • Flooding.
  • Destruction.
  • Injuries.
  • Death.

All caused by “the tossing sea,

For it cannot be quiet,

And its waters toss up refuse and mud.

“There is no peace, . . .”

When the storm strikes and the power causes our world to suddenly go dark, STILL the storm cannot cause our FAITH to be lost.

When the storm makes landfall and water comes flooding into our world, STILL the storm cannot take away our FAITH we have in GOD.

When a life-storm comes barreling into our safe place, STILL the PEACE our SAVIOR provides will keep us secure.

  • Peace Even During the Effects of a Storm—that is a promise of God!
  • Peace Even During the Effects of a Storm—that remains our inner-state!
  • Peace Even During the Effects of a Storm—that becomes our testimony!
  • Peace Even During the Effects of a Storm—that provides us a way to witness to the lost!

There have been so many who have lost loved ones, who have lost their livelihood, and who are currently homeless.  The loss can truly be devastating.  Praise God, though, our salvation in Jesus cannot be stripped away from our being.  We are called to be faithful until the very end, and even though we cannot know what the future holds, it is so true:  WE DO KNOW WHO HOLDS OUR FUTURE!

So when the wickedness of the world seems to surround us, just as the prophet of God proclaimed, we can stand in solidarity, firmly stating to the watching world:

“There is no peace,“ says my God, “for the wicked.” (The Book of Isaiah 57: 21 NASB)

But Praise GOD, even when storms of life march into our world, we who believe, who are saved forevermore can stand in faith and testify how we know that come what may, God has us firmly within His hands.

“And the peace of God,
which surpasses all comprehension,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Philippians 4:7 NASB)

It is possible to Sustain God’s Peace, even during a Storm.

This is the true promise of God!
