Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

The DAY is Coming!

“Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth;
Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises.
. . .
Before the LORD,
for He is coming to judge the earth;

He will judge the world with righteousness
And the peoples with equity.”

(The Psalms 98:  4 & 9 NASB)

THE SECOND ADVENT—THE DAY JESUSWILL COME AGAIN!

And I saw heaven opened,
[the apostle John shares The Revelation he had been given]
and behold a white horse,
and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True,
and in righteousness He judges and wages war.”

[the apostle John shares the vision of JESUS’ 2nd Coming]

“His eyes are a flame of fire,
and on His head are many diadems;
and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood,
and His name is called The Word of God.”

[the apostle John writes of JESUS’ 2nd Advent, the DAY that will come]

“And the armies which are in heaven,
clothed in fine linen, white and clean,
were following Him on white horses.”

[the apostle John describes the vast army of believers, the Christians]

From His mouth comes a sharp sword,
so that with it He may strike down the nations,
and He will rule them with a rod of iron;
and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.”

[the Lord wants us to see HIS coming judgment]

“And on His robe and on His thigh
He has a name written:

KING OF KINGS,
AND LORD OF LORDS.”

(The Revelation to John 19: 11-16 NASB)

This is the season of Christmas, a time when we shop & bake & gather with those we love.  The season of Christmas focuses upon the 1st ADVENT—THE COMING OF JESUS AS A BABE IN A MANGER.

Every Christmas, while we are preparing our hearts to celebrate JESUS, there is another birthday my family strives to celebrate, the birthday of our mother, the day that arrives every Christmas Eve. For the last few years, we have celebrated mom’s Christmas Eve birthday by hosting a come-and-go brunch, when those who wish to celebrate her new year of life are given the opportunity to stop by her home, to enjoy some delicious brunch food, and who can share time with her—with mom.

Today is the day we will celebrate our mother who will soon turn 80-years-old, and—TODAY IS THAT DAY!

THIS YEAR—HER 80TH—THIS SPECIAL DAY REQUIRES SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

Yes, this year is a bit different because

  • This will be a day we will celebrate. &
  • This will be a day when we will celebrate mom’s coming birthday, the one that will come the day before Christmas.
  • This will be a day for a party, for a gathering, when all who wish to celebrate will come.

This year, we are hosting a party & the venue where the party will be hosted fits mom so well, for we are inviting everyone who wishes to celebrate mom to come—TO THE CHURCH.

As we prepared for mom’s big day, buying our supplies, meeting to decorate cupcakes, and rearranging the fellowship hall at church, another COMING DAY resonates deep within me.

THE SECOND ADVENT—THE DAY JESUS WILL COME—AGAIN!

There is a BIG DAY COMING, the DAY we who believe have been anticipating.

CHRIST JESUS spoke these words to provide the signs of His Return—His 2nd Coming:

“Therefore be on the alert,
for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.
But be sure of this,
that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming,
he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
For this reason you also must be ready;
for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.”

(The Gospel According to John 24: 42-44 NASB)

Despite His long delay, the DAY is coming!

  • Believers will forever be with the Lord on this DAY.
  • Unbelievers will forever be separated from the Lord on this Coming DAY.

JESUS’ FAITHFULNESS IS UNFAILING!

JESUS WILL PERSONALLY COME—THIS IS THE  2nd ADVENT!

JESUS WILL COME TO RESCUE & TO DELIVER HIS SAINTS—THOSE WHO HAVE BELIEVED IN HIM!

Today is the twenty-first day of December, the day of mom’s 80th birthday celebration.  While this day is super-special to all who adore her presence here on earth, a MORE-IMPORTANT DAY IS COMING—the day the Lord Jesus will bring her home to heaven.

With full assurance I can testify how mom has lived her life, how she has proclaimed Jesus as her Savior and Lord.

  • Today is a day we will celebrate.  &
  • Today is a day we will gather to host a birthday party for mom’s 80th that will come the day before Christmas.
  • Today is a day we will host a party, a gathering, when all who wish to celebrate come.

BUT THERE IS A DAY COMING, A DAY THE SAINTS ARE ANTICIPATING, THE DAY JESUS COMES!

&

TODAY COULD JUST BE THAT DAY!

  • If Jesus came today, are we ready?
  • If Jesus came today, have we witnessed to those who need to hear?
  • If Jesus came today, would our neighbors know we have departed to heaven?

May we be occupied during the wait, for we have much work to accomplish until JESUS COMES AGAIN ON THAT DAY

As J. Wilbur Chapman penned in his hymn “One Day”—

“One day He’s coming—O glorious day.”
