Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Once Fatherless, but now HIS Children

“Sing to God,
sing praises to His name;
Lift up a song for Him who rides through the deserts,
Whose name is the LORD,
and exult before Him.

A father to the fatherless and a judge for the widows,
Is God in His holy habitation.
God makes a home for the lonely;
He leads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land.”

(The Psalms 68: 4-6 NASB)

We who “sing to God,” who “sing praises to His name” are given divine gospel appointments, but we must be spiritually ready to realize these opportunities, or we will walk right past them.

When was the last time you experienced a “divine appointment” with someone who needed to know the LORD?

  • How can we know we are entering a “divine appointment”?
  • How can we know that the opportunity is from God?
  • How can we become more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit?

We who believe MUST BE PRAYING for those who need to be saved.

We who are saved MUST BE LIVING as servants of God, REFLECTING the humility of Jesus & EMBRACING a lifestyle, always ready for the spiritual warfare we face every day in this world where we live.

  • We do not need special skills to be a witness for Christ.
  • We do not need special degrees of learning to tell others what Jesus has done for us.
  • We simply tell how God saved our soul.
  • We simply share how God changes our lives.

This is the Gospel way; this is how the Gospel message is shared.  Our testimony could be the reason someone we meet and talk with today—may have their own testimony tomorrow.

Consider the significance of that statement.

  • What we say, what we do, how we react, how we walk matters to those in the world who currently walk in lostness.
  • Just as importantly is this truth:
  • What we DO NOT say, what we REFUSE to do, how we TURN AWAY from the Holy Spirit’s prompting, how we WALK AWAY from those without Christ—matters for their eternity.

As we walk through today, we are called to walk a certain way, as His Children.  We must behave in public just as we are in private.  We must be honest with ourselves and with others.  We are to be authentic, reflecting Jesus to the watching world.  People ought to be able to study our lives and see Jesus.  So, the question for today:  Can others see Jesus in us?

However, the more important question, we who believe must ask ourselves every day we walk alive here on earth:  Is Jesus pleased with the way we live?

We are walking home, traversing through this earthly life, fully aware how our lives will not end when our earthly body is buried in the earth. Although we once walked alone, enslaved to our sinfulness, and rebellious to the Creator of the world, we are reminded through David’s psalm just what God has done for us.

“God makes a home for the lonely;
He leads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land.”

(The Psalms 68: 6 NASB)
  • As God’s children, we are to love one another, for Jesus came for everyone.
  • As His children, we are to love one another, for God is the Father for the fatherless.
  • As children of Father God, we are to love one another, for through His love, they will know Him.

As we are mindful of what we say, what we do, & what we refrain from doing—let us behave as the children of God—should.

“See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us,
that we would be called children of God;
and such we are.
For this reason the world does not know us,
because it did not know Him.”

(The First Letter of John 3: 1 NASB)
