A walk through life toward eternity

Wisdom Will Come:  Jesus Seeks Us!

“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence,
And I find knowledge and discretion.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil;
Pride and arrogance and the evil way
And the perverted mouth, I hate.
. . .
I love those who love me;
And those who diligently seek me will find me.”

(The Proverbs 8: 12-13 & 17 NASB)
  • Wisdom calls to us, inviting us to receive it, this free gift.
  • Wisdom asks us to seek, not seeking to become wise but seeking to find God.

We, the Creation of God, are to be on a QUEST!

Today, I find myself wondering how best to exhibit what the Lord is teaching us about ‘wisdom.’ I first turned to The Proverbs, written by the man who was given the opportunity to receive anything his heart desired, and he chose to receive ‘wisdom.’  Yet, if we know anything about King Solomon, then we know that he did not always display wisdom in his actions, so one might ask, did he really receive that gift in which he sought?

Let’s read on, noticing what Solomon speaks when considering God and the ‘wisdom’ found only through knowing God.

“While He had not yet made the earth and the fields,
Not the first dust of the world.
When He established the heavens,
I was there,
When He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,
When He made firm the skies above,
When the springs of the deep became fixed,
When He set for the sea its boundary
So that the water would not transgress His command,
When He marked out the foundations of the earth;
Then I was beside Him,
as a master workman;
And I was daily His delight,
Rejoicing always before Him,
Rejoicing in the world, His earth,
And having my delight in the sons of men.”

(The Proverbs 8: 26-31 NASB)

We are on a QUEST, seeking GOD!

We are to seek God with all our being: soul, mind, and strength & as we do—

  • Wisdom Will Come to Us because Jesus Seeks Us!
  • Wisdom Will Come to Us, for Wisdom Is God!

May We Focus on Knowing Him Deeply, Knowing Him Truly & Knowing Him Personally.

The Bible records these words Jesus Himself said—

“Come to Me,
all who are weary and heavy-laden,
and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

(The Gospel According to Matthew 11: 28-30 NASB)

Life can be wearisome, but Jesus offers an easy yoke.  Won’t we allow Jesus to remove the heavy load of guilt we carry around with us, taking it everywhere we go.  Shouldn’t we allow Jesus to restore us?  Wisdom tells us, “Yes, we should,” but as mere dust, we wonder how. Through Jesus, we can in three simple steps.

  1. First we are to admit that we are enslaved to sin.  Name out the sin that traps us.
  2. Second we are to accept Jesus’ forgiveness and restoration from that sin.
  3. Finally, we are to learn to live under Jesus’ care.

GOD’S MERCY & HIS AMAZING GRACE!

As we do, He does what only He can do!

  • Jesus Died & Arose from the Grave!
  • Jesus Made the Only Way for Us to be Saved, to Come to Know God!
  • Jesus Forgives Us!
  • Jesus Forgets Our Sins!
  • Jesus Stands in the Gap, so that when God Looks At Us
  • God Sees His Son Jesus & Not Our Sins!

We know this to be the TRUTH because the Bible tells us so!

“He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him
.
[who revere & show reverence Him]
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Just as a father has compassion on those children,
So the LORD has compassion of those who fear Him.
For He Himself knows our frame;

[God knows from what we have been created]
He is mindful that we are but dust.”

(The Psalms 103: 10-14 NASB)

Thus, we often pause in our life-walk to peer back over our shoulder, seeing how far we have come.  WHO ARE YOU?

THERE IS:

  1. The person you think you are.
  2. The person others know.
  3. The person God knows you are & can be through Jesus Christ, His Only Begotten Son.

HEADLINER:  GOD SEES US!

WHEN GOD SEES US (HIS CHILDREN), HE SEES HIS SON & not who we are in our sin. God reminds us how He “blots out our sins” & “remembers them no more.”  East to West & West to East—Continuous, Ongoing, Eternal Forgiveness that is Unstopping.  God’s forgiveness is not like taking a journey north.  Once we travel north, we eventually reach the North Pole, and then our direction changes as we begin our journey south.  If we travel far enough, we will eventually reach the South Pole.  Thus, we would begin again, going in a new direction—North.

GOD’S FORGIVENESS DOESN’T WORK LIKE THAT!

GOD’S FORGIVENESS IS FOREVERMORE!

GOD’S FORGIVENESS IS CONTINUOUS!

GOD’S FORGIVENESS IS ETERNAL!

[BECAUSE] He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

(The Psalms 103: 10-12 NASB)

Wisdom calls to us, inviting us, asking us to receive this free gift, to seek God.

Truly we are to be on a QUEST for GOD!

& as we are—

Wisdom Will Come to Us:  As We Focus on Knowing Jesus Deeply, Truly, & Personally.

Wisdom Will Come to Us because Jesus Himself Seeks Us!

Solomon could have received anything his heart desired from God, and when given the choice—Solomon Asked for Wisdom.

Nonetheless, Solomon was not a perfect man; he messed up—sinned.

Solomon had to seek God’s forgiveness for his sin, a daily asking for God’s mercy.

Therefore, we might be reading this discourse, wondering—Can I seek wisdom and then be found in foolish actions, words, and reactions to others? Yes, unfortunately we can because we are dust. Thank goodness the LORD is mindful of how He created us from the dust of the earth.

So, how can we know if we are Wise or If we have found Wisdom?

  1. Look at Your Life.
  2. See How Loving You Are to Others.
  3. Peer to See if You Are Gentle like Jesus.
  4. Notice What is Taking Away Your Time from God & His Kingdom Work.
  5. The Possessions, the People or the Pursuit of this World’s Happiness—Are They Distracting Us?
  6. See if You Are Humble toward Others as Jesus Was to those who came into His path.
  7. Listen to Family, Friends, Colleagues—What do they say about you?

JESUS, THE EMBODIMENT OF DIVINE WISDOM!

HE WILL TEACH US, GUIDE US & INSPIRE US TO HIS WISDOM!

  • God’s resources are limitless & boundless!
  • God is Eternal & Everlasting!
  • When we trust God, we can be assured He will provide exactly what we need at the precise moment!
  • God’s strength sustains us, even when we feel overwhelmed!

We know this to be the TRUTH because the Bible tells us so!  Just read about Daniel or about the three Hebrew boys or about James.  The bond-servant of the Lord Jesus Christ records in God’s Word this TRUTH ABOUT WISDOM in The Letter of James.

“Who among you is wise and understanding?
Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.
But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart,
do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.
This wisdom is not that which comes down from above,
but is earthly, natural, demonic.
For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist,
there is disorder and every evil thing.
But wisdom from above is
first pure,
then peaceable,
gentle,
reasonable,
full of mercy and good fruits,
unwavering,
without hypocrisy.
And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”

(The Letter of James 3: 13-18 NASB)
