A walk through life toward eternity

Long Before Your Birth—He Invited Us to an Intimacy with Him

“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind,
and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves,
and they rested on each one of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.”

(The Acts of the Apostles 2: 1-4 NASB)

Welcome to the Day of Pentecost 2024.

I must admit, this day described in the Scripture amazes me and causes me to wish I had been there, on that day, when the promised Holy Spirit was given to the apostles.  To prove how magnificent that day must have been, read on past verse four to see how Peter could not help but stand to preach the Gospel.  If you keep reading, then you will see that about 3,000 people came to know Jesus that same day.

WOW!

What a day that must have been!

  • Do you remember the moment Jesus Christ became your Savior?
  • Do you remember the feeling of weightlessness overwhelming your being?
  • Do you recall how you could not help but tell others?
  • Do you recall how freeing your body, mind & spirit felt at that moment?

Just imagine—

The hatred Satan must have felt as he realized Jesus had saved your soul from eternal damnation.  &

Just imagine—

How the devil’s demons screamed in terror that they lost another soul to heaven’s glory.  &

Just imagine—

How the Bible proclaims the shouting and jubilee that occurred in heaven—the day you decided to say, “Yes, Jesus, come into my heart; forgive me of my sins; & become my Savior and Lord.”

JUST IMAGINE!!!!!!!!!

Where would you rather be—than right where you are at this instance?

When someone voices a question such as this, often they conjure images of places we might rather be, you know, than right here.

For example:

  • At here—OR—At the beach?
  • At here—OR—At the chosen place of your best holiday?
  • At here—OR—At the best career path possible?
  • At here—OR—At the university, earning your best degree?
  • At here—OR—At the time of your pregnancy when your child is being born?
  • At here—OR—At the time of your healing, AFTER the suffering & pain of the disease is gone?
  • At here—OR—At the place where your family is exactly as you would have them be?
  • At here—OR—At the time in your relationships with others when everything is perfect?
  • At here—OR—At there?
  • At here—OR—At any place rather than here!
  • God has placed you HERE, right HERE. Children of God, let us walk in His will.

There is a most-glorious melody that fits well with the thoughts that the Holy Spirit has brought to my heart, and so I ask you to pause right here, right now, and allow yourself to listen to this new melody.  Yes, really listen.

“Led Me To You” by Sean Curran

As you listen, meditate upon Jesus’ words He spoke in the synagogue on the Sabbath when He stood up to read.  By the way, this passage from The Book of Isaiah was the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry.

“And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up;
and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read.
And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him.
And He opened the book and found the place where it was written,

“THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME,
BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH
THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR.
HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM
RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES,
AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND,
TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED,
TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD.”

“And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down;
and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.
And He began to say to them,
“Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

(The Gospel According to Luke 4: 16-21 NASB)
  • There are 300 verses in the New Testament that speak of the resurrection of Jesus.
  • These 300 verses come from 260 different chapters within the Scriptures, the Bible.

I have not counted every single one, yet, but I am working on this during the study of the Word of God.  It’s not that I do not believe the Bible scholars who say so; rather, it’s that I want to see so, to know so, for myself.

The power of this single event—the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead—affected His followers & continues to affect the entire world.

Nothing is too small to God because He cares about all things.

Long before we were born, He planned us.  Consider that; ponder there for a spell.  He also planned where He would birth us (what family clan, what country, what city, what town, what community).  No detail about us is too small to God.

He wants us to share an intimate relationship with Him, one that was broken long before we were born, way back in Genesis 3, back in the Garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve sinned.

Long Before Your Birth—He Invited Us to an Intimacy with Him

On this Day of Pentecost 2024, just as in the days of old, there is a remembrance, a celebration, a time of renewal.  To prove this true, allow me to offer you two passages from God’s Word.

From the Old Testament

“So they assembled at Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa’s reign.
[the day of Pentecost]
They sacrificed to the LORD that day 700 oxen and 7,000 sheep from the spoil they had brought.
They entered into the covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all they heart and soul;
and whoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, man or woman.
Moreover, they made an oath to the LORD with a loud voice, with shouting, with trumpets and with horns.
All Judah rejoiced concerning the oath, for they had sworn with their whole heart and had sought Him earnestly,
and He let them find Him.
So the LORD gave them rest on every side.”

(The Second Book of the Chronicles 15: 10-15 NASB)

From the New Testament

“and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,
that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find him,
though He is not far from each one of us;
for in Him we live and move and exist, . . . “

(The Acts of the Apostles 17: 26-28a NASB)

He Invited Us to an Intimacy with Him—Long Before Our Birth.

May we become seriously focused on HIM—with our whole heart, soul, mind, & strength.
