Today—matters
“Indeed, if a man should live many years, let him rejoice in them all, and let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. Everything that is to come will be futility.
(The Book of Ecclesiastes 11: 8-9 NASB)
Rejoice, young man, during your childhood, and let your heart be pleasant during the days of young manhood. And follow the impulses of your heart and the desires of your eyes.
Yet know that God will bring you to judgment for all these things.”
Think about that statement: Today—matters.
Consider how you would spend today, the next twenty-four hours, if you knew that tomorrow you would stand before God.
Today—matters.
God knows us; He created us.
- God knows us; He fashioned us and breathed life into us.
- God know us; He numbered our days even before we were given the first day of life.
- God knows us, mere human beings.
Today—matters, and because it does, Today, let us make a difference.
Today—matters; let us be grateful for the next twenty-four hours we hope to live.
- 1,440 minutes.
- 86,400 seconds.
- 24 hours.
- 1 Full Day.
Today—matters; time is precious, as we know.
Today, let us make a difference in the life of another.
Today—let us LOVE well, LIVE well, & MAKE a difference throughout this one (1) single day God has gifted us to live—Today.
“Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,
(The Letter of Paul to the Ephesians 5: 15-17 NASB)
making the most of your time, because the days are evil.
So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
God gave us these words, recorded in His Word, so we would remember how every gift of a day is to be lived, not in selfish ambition, but in honor and obedience to God.
Hum . . . .
- Who has God placed in your life, someone who could be influenced by you?
- Who has God entrusted to you?
- Who has God given to you to know because He knows that person could possibly be persuaded by you to see Him as Savior?
We need eyes to see others as God sees others: Saved or Lost; Sight-filled or Blind; a child of God or a human still walking in darkness.
If we really arose from our beds each morning, fully cognizant that today could be our final day alive on earth, then we would walk through today more kingdom focused. Yet we are blind to our life-calendar, spoiled even to the way God desires to use us for His kingdom good. We become caught up in the world’s ‘Be all YOU can be & Do all YOU can do’ when in truth, we can only BE & DO ALL—when we choose to allow God to lead us through the day that lays before us.
“Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them;
for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.
For this reason it says,
‘Awake, sleeper,
And arise from the dead,
And Christ will shine on you.’
Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,
making the most of your time, because the days are evil.”
(The Letter of Paul to the Ephesians 5: 11-16 NASB)
Thus, remember the Scripture of God. “Therefore be careful how you walk, . . .”
- It’s there for a reason.
- It’s present because something preceded it.
- It’s necessary so the reader will understand God’s teaching, act, & walk in obedience.
“For this reason it says,
(The Letter of Paul to the Ephesians 5: 14 NASB)
Awake, sleeper,
And arise from the dead,
And Christ will shine on you.”
