Our Testimony Shared
Go on assignment with me.
Pick up your phone, slide your thumb across the screen, open to the place where you chat with those you love. Do not send a message, but just look at the screen. If your phone is like mine, in a matter of several seconds, the screen will lessen in brightness, and if untouched, will go suddenly black, suddenly dark.
Oftentimes, my husband is deployed to live far away from our home. Additionally, my daughters do not live next door, or in town with me, or even within the same state. They are hundreds & even thousands of miles away from where I live. Nevertheless, although we are far apart, we still make time to talk. Whenever I click WhatsApp, whenever I am online on my side of the world, and whenever I see a person I love is also online, that’s when I feel sense a closeness, as if we are sitting within the same room, even though we are not.
Many years ago, I read a book that described the “rooms” of our soul, the places within us where we invite the Holy Spirit into our lives. That book had a profound effect upon my thinking about God’s Holy Spirit. It’s as if God & me are sitting together, conversing about this & that, walking together, going through life together—continually in relationship—because WE ARE! Once God saves our soul forevermore, He dwells within us through and through with His Holy Spirit.
Today, I find my thoughts focused upon the Trinity, upon the three persons of God. In the Bible, the prophet Moses was led by God to write these words:
“The secret things belong to the LORD our God,
(Deuteronomy 29:29 New American Standard Bible)
but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever,
that we may observe all the words of this law.”
- We are called to know God through belief in His Only Son, Jesus.
- We are called to accept the Truth: Jesus Christ died upon the cross and arose to new life, overcoming death so we would not have to.
- We are called to confess our unbelief and sins against Most Holy God.
That’s what we are called to do.
- Then, our Father expects us to walk in communion with Him through His Holy Spirit who fills every crevice of our being.
- We are not called to understand totally everything about God this side of heaven.
We are called to Accept, to Believe, & to Confess HIM!
Riley Clemmons sings the melody “Miracle,” a song we may each need to listen to. Lord, help us remember how our miracle is YOU!
Consider this question: If you were given the task to describe to another person all that you know about God in one sentence, what would you say?
As a second condition of your task. You must state your one (1) sentence, your one (1) description of God within the next five (5) seconds.
GO!
- NO HESITATION.
- NO PRE-PLANNING.
- NO DIGGING INTO THE SCRIPTURE.
- NO CALLING A SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER OR PASTOR.
- NO, NOTHING BUT ONLY THE TRUTHFUL ANSWER THAT COMES FROM YOUR HEART.
GO!
SPEAK THE TRUTH—GOD HIMSELF—HAS REVEALED INDIVIDUALLY & PERSONALLY TO YOU.
This is Our Testimony (Yours & Mine)—Shared
“The LORD our God has secrets known to no one.
(Deuteronomy 29: 29 New Living Translation)
We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that He has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions.”
This is what I believe.
- This is what I know to be TRUTH, my one (1) statement, spoken in five (5) seconds.
The trinity of God is the heart of God &
- I am to join His mission,
- to walk daily as His disciple,
- to faithfully reside with God the Father, God the Son, & God the Holy Spirit dwelling within EVERY “ROOM” OF MY SOUL!
Surely, we may not understand what we see in the news OR why the world leaders do what they feel compelled to do. We may not fully understand all that is written about the end of time, when Jesus returns to earth. We may not even completely or exactly understand how we will escape death when our earthly body dies and we are suddenly taken into the presence of God.
No, we may not totally understand, but the most-amazing news is this.
WE ARE NOT CALLED TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING!
WE ARE CALLED TO BELIEVE!
- MAY WE BE ALL ABOUT THE TASK WE HAVE BEEN COMMISSIONED TO DO.
- MAY WE MEET PEOPLE WHEREVER THEY ARE IN THEIR FAITH-WALK OR IN THEIR LACK OF FAITH.
MAY WE LIVE OUT LOUD—OUR TESTIMONY SHARED!
