Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

The LORD’S Mercy

  • Their grey cruisers intrigue, as their blue lights surround.
  • Their grey uniforms fascinate, as they park, then walk toward the car parked in front of their cruiser.
  • Their grey hats are placed upon their head, resting there, as they step from their cruiser.

“My soul certainly remembers,
And is bent over within me.
I recall this to my mind,
Therefore I wait.
The LORD’S acts of mercy
indeed do not end,
For His compassions do not fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
The LORD is my portion,”
says my soul,
“Therefore I wait for Him.”
The LORD is good to those
who await Him,
To the person who seeks Him.”

(Lamentation 3: 20-25 NASB)

Yesterday was a holiday, one of fun, of parades, of hot dogs, of street vendors, & of fireworks.  The 4th of July is an amazing American holiday, one that most everyone loves to celebrate.  So, it was with anticipation that I encouraged my husband to drive with me to a nearby city to attend the 4th of July parade & street fair & car show & antique tractor display. (I knew the last item would claim his interest.)

We arrived barely in time for the parade, and what a parade it was to experience.  Almost two hours later, the horse riders paraded by, and the annual 4th of July parade was complete.  Now, onto the street fair.  That’s when we separated ways:  he to the antique tractor display & me to the street fair.

Pop-up tents lined main street, all vendors selling items, giving away free items, promoting candidates, or selling chances to prizes.  I found myself drawn to the State Police tent where tee-shirts (for sale) blew in the wind.

“Will you support your local State Police post?” the trooper asked me.

By that time, my husband and had joined me again, and he laughingly replied, “I think she already has.”

We (all three of us) enjoyed the humor found in the moment, while I contemplated:  Did the trooper recognize me, know my vehicle, or was this of premonition of future days to come? It is a fact, my girls still laugh about the time the State Trooper pulled us over that one winter day.

  • With driving comes liberty.
  • With driving comes freedom to move from here to there.
  • With driving comes responsibility.
  • With driving comes faithfulness to follow the laws of the roadways.
  • With driving one can seeThe LORD’S Mercy.

“The LORD’S acts of mercy
indeed do not end,
For His compassions do not fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.”

(Lamentation 3: 22-23 NASB)

Every day, the LORD’S merciful acts attend to our soul.

The LORD’S mercy is not a license for God’s children to sin.

The compassion & faithfulness of our Father returns to us again and again.

“The LORD is my portion,”
says my soul,
“Therefore I wait for Him.”
The LORD is good to those
who await Him,
To the person who seeks Him.”

(Lamentation 3: 24-25 NASB)

Every day, the LORD’S goodness can be experienced.

The seeking and the waiting are ours to experience as our Father surrounds us.

The LORD’S mercy is a daily reminder of God’s Amazing Love!

“My soul certainly remembers,
And is bent over within me.
I recall this to my mind,
Therefore I wait.”

(Lamentation 3: 20-21 NASB)

Every day, the LORD’S protection covers our being.

The bending of our soul, the bending of our will—are ours to submit.

As we wait upon our Father, He comforts us through—The LORD’S mercy & love!

Truly—yesterday’s 4th of July did not disappoint.  It was a holiday, one of fun, of parades, of hot dogs, of street vendors, & of fireworks.  After our “little laugh” about how we support the State Police through our erratic and overly-fast driving, I looked the trooper in the eye and said with complete seriousness, the only appropriate response:  “I would like to support the force.  I will buy the State Police tee-shirt.”

‘From this day forward, I will allow this shirt to ride with me as I drive,’ I thought, as I pulled out my cash to make my “donation to the State Police.”

  • With God’s salvation comes liberty from our past sins through the blood of Christ!
  • With God’s salvation comes freedom to move from here (earth) to thereeternity with our Father!
  • With God’s salvation comes responsibility to share the Gospel with others!
  • With God’s salvation comes faithfulness to follow the commandments of our Father.
  • With God’s Amazing Grace, one can receive—The LORD’S Mercy!

Thank You Almighty God for loving us!

“Ik van hou jou”—I LOVE YOU! (Dutch words) revealing how the LORD’S mercy covers us!

  • The steadfast love of our Father remains.
  • May we daily place our trust in Him.

Most assuredly, one can receive—God’s Amazing Grace, through—The LORD’S Mercy!

Pause right now, grab your ear buds, & listen to a melody:   “God So Loved” by We The Kingdom.

“Let me hear Your faithfulness
in the morning,
For I trust in You;
Teach me the way in which
I should walk;
For to You I lift up my soul.”

(Psalm 143: 8 NASB)
