Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

We Are Free To . . .

“F—R—E—E—D—O—M”

This particular word brings much emotion.

We argue for our own freedom of this or that—our right!

&

We argue against another’s freedom of this issue or that thought—“It’s not right,” we cry!

Today, may we pause to see exactly what God’s Word proclaims about humanity’s freedom. Please take up your Bible and let us read together.  May we see exactly what God tells us in regard to what We Are Free To . . .Think, Speak, Be & Do!

“For you were called to freedom,
brothers and sisters;
only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh,
but serve one another through love.
For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement,
“YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”
But if you bite and devour one another,
take care that you are not consumed by one another.
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.”

(Galatians 5: 13-16 NASB)

As a child of God, we are so FREE.

Consider for a moment what our Father has FREED us from—forevermore!

We are FREE to allow the Holy Spirit of God to lead us away from sin.

We are FREE to allow the Holy Spirit of God to lead us to love others as ourselves.

We Are Free To . . .

  1. Invite another to come worship with us at church, & we are FREE to allow them to sit beside us.
  2. Share time with another who is grieving the loss of a beloved spouse, sibling, or friend.  We are FREE to offer them our listening ear.
  3. Watch another’s children so the parents can have a date night or run errands.  We are FREE to babysit children for FREE!
  4. Visit a person who has mobility difficulties.  While visiting, we are FREE to help.
  5. Help a neighbor with household chores.  We are totally FREE to assist them.
  6. Prepare a meal for someone in need:  a cancer survivor, a surgery recovery, a lonely widow or widower, or a single parent.  We are FREE to carry them a meal.
  7. Sit and read the daily newspaper with someone whose sight is failing OR sit and play a board game with a child while his parent completes some household tasks.  We are FREE to do so much.
  8. We are FREE to love others who sin differently from us!

Although we live in a time when we cry, complain, march, and shout for our freedom, we must remember WHO is our FATHER.

While it is true that The Constitution provides us certain unalienable rights that we hold dear to our being; we must “live out” what God’s Word reminds us with clarity—

“For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement,
“YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”

(Galatians 5: 14 NASB)

The amazing power of God provides us so much!  Just a few verses past this statement, we find a list of the “Fruit of the Spirit.”  What’s so amazing is that God positions this list of nine fruit that can be produced through our lives—right after all the “deeds of the flesh [that] are evident” in the world.

  • There are so many “FREE” actions we can do for our neighbors as we love them like Jesus taught us to do.

The MOST LIBERATING gift God has given His people—

  • We are FREE to tell others our testimony about how Jesus Set Us FREE from our bondage of sin.

Thank You God for Your Freedom, Your Amazing Grace!

  • May we recall just exactly how God FREED us through the shed blood of Jesus.
  • May we FREELY reach out to our neighbor who may be struggling or hurting.
  • May we walk in FREEDOM—LOVING OUR NEIGHBOR AS OURSELVES!

In doing so, we will become Christ-followers who are “fruit-producers.”

“But the fruit of the Spirit is
LOVE,
JOY,
PEACE,
PATIENCE,
KINDNESS,
GOODNESS,
FAITHFULNESS,
GENTLENESS,
SELF-CONTROL;

against such things there is no law.
Now those who belong to Christ Jesus crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit as well.”

(Galatians 5: 22-25 NASB)

Thank You—FATHER GOD—We Are Free To . . .
