Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

May We Not Quit But Instead Finish HIS Mission

“Enough!  Now, LORD, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers.”

(1 Kings 19: 4b NASB)

Have you ever run for your life?

Have you ever been so scared, so afraid, that the only thing you knew to do was run?

Have you ever become so overwhelmed with the heaviness of your life that you found yourself down on the ground, asking the LORD to just take your life?

I understand.

These are heavy questions.

When we were children, maybe we saw adulthood and thought:  “Wow, I’ll be the boss of me.  How cool that will be.  I will make my own money & spend it as I wantI will come & go as I please because NO ONE will be my boss except ME!”

Raise your hand if those were your thoughts as a child. Ashamedly, my hand is raised high up in the air.

I remember thinking those things, and I was raised in the best home in the world with loving parents who taught me to love God, to work hard, and to enjoy play.  Truly, what could ever possess a child living in that childhood to ever wish to break free, to go his own way, to be his own authority, or (heaven help him) to ever desire for God to just take his life. However, if we are really truthful with ourselves, sometimes we (the children of God) act just like that—bossy children—to our Heavenly Father.

  • May we pause right here and speak this truth:  Humans are weak vessels.
  • May we also speak out a second truth:  Humanity is comprised of people born with a sinful nature.
  • Finally, may we end by saying:  Almighty God, the Creator of Everything, Loves Us Anyway & Sent His Only Son Jesus to Die for Us, & God Did All This for One Reason—TO HAVE AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US!

“So Moses said to the LORD, “Why have You been so hard on Your servant?  And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have put the burden of all this people on me?” . . .
“I am not able to carry all this people by myself, because it is too burdensome for me.
So if You are going to deal with me this way, please kill me now, if I found favor in Your sight, and do not let me see my misery.”

(Numbers 11: 11 & 14-15)

Is death better than life?

Is there any reason we should desire to remain here in this world?

Maybe health issues, family burdens, career struggles, or difficult people surround us on every side, and we find ourselves like Moses, throwing up our hands and exclaiming:  “LORD, “Why have You been so hard on Your servant?”

God knows us—HE created us!

God understands us—HE knows we need a Savior!

God gets us—HE sent HIS Holy Spirit to dwell within us!

JEHOVAH GOD

  1. Does not ever leave us in our despair.
  2. Never forsakes us!
  3. Knows the path we should take.
  4. Speaks to our soul, “Child, come follow me.”
  5. Yes, truly, God always points us in the right direction—into His will.

May We Not Quit But Instead Finish HIS Mission.

Who are we, weak vessels that we are, to ever demand anything from God?!!!

God has already done so much for every single one of us—GOD SENT HIS SON TO DIE ON THE CROSS FOR US, SO WE MIGHT RECEIVE HIM BY FAITH, LIVE FOR HIM, AND LEAD OTHERS TO DO THE SAME!

The prophet Elijah was being chased by the messengers of Queen Jezebel, & she had personally threatened to take his life by the next day.

  • NEVERTHELESS, GOD WAS NOT FINISHED WITH HIS SERVANT ELIJAH!
  • GOD HAS THE FINAL SAY WHEN OUR LIFE-MISSION IS THROUGH & WHEN IT IS OUR DAY TO DIE!

God’s chosen servant Moses was given the overwhelmingly difficult task to lead the entire, grumbling, complaining nation of Israel—for forty years.

  • NONETHELESS, GOD KNEW HIS PLAN TO TAKE THEM INTO HIS PROMISED LAND!
  • GOD KNEW FROM THE BEGINNING HOW HIS SON WOULD COME FROM THE TRIBE OF JUDAH!
  • GOD ALWAYS HAS THE LAST WORD WHEN OUR LIFE-MISSION SEEMS SO HEAVY THAT WE WANT TO THROW OFF THE HEAVY BURDEN & JUST RUN AWAY FROM EVERYTHING HARD!

May We Keep Our Eyes Upon Jesus.

May We Feel His Push & Pull As God Aligns Our Lives With His Will.

May We Not Quit—But Instead—

May We Daily Walk With Jesus As We Finish HIS Mission.

The Great Commission Jesus gave to His disciples has also been given to us!

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

(Matthew 28: 19 NASB)

“I Speak Jesus” by KingsPorch resonates as the melody that applies to what we are commissioned to do. https://youtu.be/VjPLUhE5tiQ

  • May We—Not become so entangled with our own burdens or those of others we are given to carry that we ever desire to quit, to give up, or to die.
  • May We—Remember WHOSE we are!!!
  • May We—“GO & SPEAK JESUS & MAKE DISCIPLES” to the people who surround us.
  • May We—Hear the words of our SAVIOR & LORD:  “Take courage;  it is I, do not be afraid.” (Mark 6: 50b NASB)
  • Fear consumes us & causes us to isolate ourselves, but when we allow Jesus into our boat, into our situation, into our lives—He will calm our storm.
  • May We—Remember JESUS’ PROMISE TO US:  “and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28: 20b NASB)
