Too Numerous to Count
“Many, LORD my God, are the
(Psalm 40: 5 NASB)
wonders which You have done,
And Your thoughts toward us;
There is no one to compare with You.
If I would declare and speak of them,
They would be too numerous to count.”
How much time do we have? No, I do not mean to ask how many days do we have remaining to live, but maybe that could also be a correct question to imply. How Much Time?
- How many minutes today to speak?
- How much time to bow and pray?
- How many minutes to proclaim the character of our LORD, would we ever have enough time?
On the eve of Palm Sunday, the thoughts of the Holy Week, the Upper Room, the betrayal, the torture, the crucifixion, the death, the tomb, and the resurrection—OVERCOME ME! MAYBE YOU AS WELL!
How dead was Jesus when they placed His body in the tomb?
How dead was Jesus when the guards positioned themselves outside the tomb?
How dead was Jesus when the women ran inside the next morning and encountered the angel?
How dead?
How dead was Jesus, our Lord?
How dead was Jesus when the women ran back to proclaim the good news?
How dead was Jesus when Peter and John ran to look, to see the empty tomb with their own eyes?
How dead was Jesus when God raised Him from the dead?
Oh my, LORD, how dead was our Savior when He stretched out his arms and the guards pounded the spikes into His flesh?
Oh God, how dead was Your Son when He laid down for the sins of mankind?
“Many, LORD my God, are the
(Psalm 40: 5 NASB)
wonders which You have done,
And Your thoughts toward us;
There is no one to compare with You.
If I would declare and speak of them,
They would be too numerous to count.”
- God thought of us from the beginning when He created the heavens and the earth.
- God thought of us when He walked in the garden with the first man, Adam.
- God thought of us when He established the only way to come to know Him in salvation.
- God thought of us.
Try as humanity might—“There is no one to compare with You.” [GOD!]
Despite the trials that come to our lives—“There is no one to compare with You.” [GOD!]
Regardless of where the LORD sends us & Even if the task seems to be just too large—“There is no one to compare with You.” [GOD!]
“If I could declare and speak of them, [of the many ways God brings us peace]
&
If I could declare and speak of them, [of the times God has walked with us]
&
If I could declare and speak of them, [of the many wonderful qualities of our LORD GOD]
They would be too numerous to count.”
A.W. Tozer wrote long ago these words of affirmation:
“The Christian is a holy rebel loose in the world with access to the throne of God.”
Oh, friend, what are we praying for today? What are we seeking that can only be accomplished through God’s will? Is our God big enough to answer our prayer?
YES!
YES—HE IS!
What burden has this world placed upon our shoulders?
What prayer concern has drawn us down to our knees?
We know the Scripture that proclaims how God’s Son has overcome all things.
Jesus made the way.
Jesus made the way for us to know the Father.
He will walk us through whatever He has walked us to.
Lord, help us to not forget in Whose strength we face our battles.
Help us to recall all the ways you have walked with us up to this challenging day.
Help us God to remain faithful JUST AS YOU ARE!
Help us LORD to trust you with our entire being.
“How blessed is the man who has
(Psalm 40: 4-5 NASB)
made the LORD his trust,
And has not turned to the proud,
nor to those who become
involved in falsehood.
“Many, LORD my God, are the
wonders which You have done,
And Your thoughts toward us;
There is no one to compare with You.
If I would declare and speak of them,
They would be too numerous to count.”
