Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Walking Away From Our Father

“And He said, [Jesus told this parable to help us see a truth about our own nature]
“A man had two sons,
The younger of them said to his father,
‘Father, give me the share of the estate that is coming to me.’
And so he divided his between them.
[The Father divided His wealth, His gift between His children.]
And not many days later, the younger son gathered everything together and went on a journey to a distant country, and there he squandered his estate
[his precious gift from his Father]
in wild living.”

(Luke 15: 11-13 NASB)

Rightly so, there is much we can observe and learn from the parables of Jesus!  As we read, as we study God’s Word, as we see from these teachings, we are encouraged in the way we are to go & in the ways we are not to go.

Truly, there is only ONE WAY TO WALK!

&

Truly, there are so many ways we can stray away from the narrow path of God.

The Apostle Peter reminds us ‘whose we are’ in the eyes of God.  Together, let us be reminded.

“But you are A CHOSEN PEOPLE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR GOD’S OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
For you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD;  you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.
Beloved, I urge you as foreigners and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts, which wage war against the soul.
Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God on the day of visitatio
n.” [on the day the Lord returns for them]

(1 Peter 2: 9-12 NASB)

Walking Away From Our Father—It Is SERIOUS!

Walking Away From Our Father—Is NOT Something We Should EVER Do!

Walking Away From Our Father—May Keep Unbelievers From Believing In GOD!

Walking Away From Our Father—Could Cause Others To Remain Lost To GOD!

Walking Away From Our Father—Will Cheapen Our Salvation In The Eyes Of The World!

Why Would We Ever Consider—Walking Away From Our Father?

Why Would We Ever Desire—To Be As The Prodigal Son?

We Should Not—EVER!

Today OR Tomorrow OR—EVER!

We Are:  “A PEOPLE FOR GOD’S OWN POSSESSION, . . .”

We Have A Task:  “so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; . . .”

For We Are:  “THE PEOPLE OF GOD; . . .”

For We Have:  “RECEIVED MERCY.”

For We Are To:  “Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, . . .”

For We Are To Not Allow Unbelievers To:  “slander you as evildoers, . . .”

For We Are To Allow Unbelievers To See Our:  “good deeds, [& as they do see how we follow God] as they observe them, glorify God on the day of visitation.”

Why Would We Ever Desire To Become Like The Prodigal Son?

Why Would We Ever Walk Away From Our Father?

We Should Not—EVER!

Today OR Tomorrow OR For The Remainder Of Our Life—EVER!

The Apostle Paul reminds us ‘why we are torn in the flesh.’  Together, let us be reminded.

“For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold into bondage to sin.
For I do not understand what I am doing;  for I am not practicing what I want to do, but I do the very thing I hate.
However, if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, that the Law is good.
But now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin that dwells in me.
For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in the flesh;  for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.
For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.

But if I do the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin that dwells in me. . . .
Wretched man that I am!  Who will set me free from the body of this death?
Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.”

(Romans 7: 14-20 & 24-25 NASB)

Physical Death—A Heart Stops Beating.

Spiritual Death—A Soul Becomes Totally Separated From God, Spending Eternity Not In Heaven But in Hell.

BUT!

The Gift of God is Eternal Life With Jesus Christ Our Savior & Lord !!!!!!!!

  • So We Wait—In Readiness.
  • So We Wait—In Right Living.
  • So We Wait—In Walking WITH GOD!
  • So We Wait—And Do NOT Walk Contrary To The Will Of Our Father!
  • So We Wait—For That Which Has Not Yet Come!
  • So We Wait—Not Waiting In Wishful Thinking!
  • So We Wait—Upon The Character Of Our Father God!
  • So We Wait—Totally Cognizant Of All The Eyes That Are Watching Us!
  • So We Wait—For God—Who Works In All Things For His Good!
  • So We Wait—NOT Walking Away From Our Father!

“Lift My Life Up” by Unspoken is a most wonderful melody that reminds us through song how we are to walk.

“Take my life & Let it be—ALL For YOU!”

So, in closing, may we be reminded by the psalmist who reminds us how:

We can—Wait With Hope on the fullness of God’s future kingdom!

BECAUSE

We can—Experience God’s faithful love Right Now!

“Behold, the eye of the LORD is
on those who fear Him,
On those who wait for His
faithfulness,
To rescue their soul from death
And to keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waits for the LORD;
He is our help and our shield.
For our heart rejoices in Him,
Because we trust in His holy name.

Let Your favor, LORD, be upon us,
Just as
we have waited for You.”
[And NOT Walked Away From Our Father]

(Psalm 33: 18-22 NASB)
