If we say we have faith, . . . Then We Are Obedient to HIS Will
We know this to be true.
“Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His;” and, “Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to keep away from wickedness.”
(2 Timothy 2: 19 NASB)
If we say we have faith, then our faith is heard within the words we speak.
If we say we have faith, then our faith is seen in the deeds we do with our hands.
If we say we have faith, then our faith is demonstrated in the way we love the oppressed.
If we say we have faith, then our faith is felt by how we care for the widows and orphans.
If we say we have faith, then our faith is tasted as we invite strangers to eat at our tables.
If we say we have faith, then our faith is the aroma of Jesus others sense in all actions we do.
If we say we have faith, then our faith is Active, Real, & True.
If we say we have faith, then our faith is Demonstrated.
If we say we have faith, then our faith is Walked Out in Obedience to our KING—ALMIGHTY GOD.
If we say we have faith, then our faith is Spoken Aloud as We Testify of our Savior Jesus.
If we say we have faith, then our faith is Led Daily Through the Holy Spirit of God.
If we say we have faith—Then We Are Obedient to HIS Will—Period.
There are stages of great works that we read within the Word of God.
- The Task Appears to Be Impossible—That’s what Joshua (one of the two faithful spies) probably thought when Moses passed the torch to him and told Joshua to lead the people into the Promised Land.
- The Task Requires Difficult Work to be Accomplished—That’s what Rahab (the prostitute whose house was positioned on the wall of Jericho) probably experienced when the two spies sent by Joshua entered her home and she was led by God to hide them behind the stalks of flax upon her rooftop.
- The Task is Accomplished When We Obediently Do God’s Will Through His Abiding Power & Strength—That’s what the children of Israel (the next generation of God’s chosen ones) did as they crossed the Red Sea on dry land & did when the next generation crossed the Jordan River on dry ground too as God held back the waters in a great heap.
We cannot just talk about Jesus; we must show the world Who He Is by our actions.
If we say we have faith—Then We Are Obedient to HIS Will—Period.
We cannot just say God is love; we must show those who God places into our paths God’s love as we care for their daily needs.
We cannot just say we walk and are led by the Holy Spirit; we must KNOW, REALLY KNOW GOD as we are the hands and feet of Jesus every day of every week.
If we say we have faith—Then We Are Obedient to HIS Will—Period.
“Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, . . .” (2 Timothy 2: 19 NASB)
- however.
- nonetheless.
- though.
- still.
- yet.
- notwithstanding.
- all the same.
- howbeit.
- anyway
- at any rate
- be that as it may.
“Now before the spies lay down, she [Rahab the prostitute—did] came up to them on the roof,
and said to the men, “I know that the LORD has given you the land, [the Promised Land beyond the Jordan River] and that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land have despaired because of you.” (Joshua 2: 8-9 NASB)
“having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His;”. . .” (2 Timothy 2: 19 NASB)
At the moment of our spiritual birth, the Bible tells us we are sealed with the Holy Seal of God. We are His vessels, and God shapes us and molds us to accomplish His will—that all will be saved and come to know Him as Savior and Lord.
“Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, ‘The LORD your God is giving you rest, and will give you this land.’” (Joshua 1: 13 NASB)
“and, “Everyone who names the name of the Lord. . .” (2 Timothy 2: 19 NASB)
The world hears our words and sees our actions, our reactions, and our lack of action. The world surrounding us knows whether our HOPE is TRUE by what we speak, do, and do not do.
“When we heard these reports, our hearts melted and no courage remained in anyone any longer because of you; for the LORD your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth below.” (Joshua 2: 11 NASB)
“is to keep away from wickedness.” (2 Timothy 2: 19 NASB)
Rahab the prostitute—who believed in the power of God, who lived on the wall of Jericho with her family, who hung down the scarlet rope revealing her trust in all that the two spies said—was spared & her mother and dad & her family too. She believed. She received protection. She is named in the “Hall of Faith.” She later married and because of her faith, she is named within the lineage of Jesus, the Son of God.
“So the young men who were spies went in and brought out Rahab, her father, her mother, her brothers, and all she had; they also brought out all her relatives, and placed them outside the camp of Israel.
Then they burned the city [Jericho] with fire, and all that was in it. Only the silver and gold, and the articles of bronze and iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.” (Joshua 6: 23-24 NASB)
