That They May Know GOD—the ONLY TRUE GOD!
Within life, we meet so many people, and while it is true, there are all kinds of nationalities, cultures, and ethnicities, it is also true that the people of the world are truly contained within one of two categories: those who BELIEVE there is a GOD & those who Do Not BELIEVE God Exists.
In journeying to another country, I have enjoyed the pleasure of meeting the close friends of someone I dearly love. Walk with me through the crowd of family and close friends who had gathered at this particular dinner party.
The evening began at 5pm sharp, and as the guests began to arrive, they placed their bags down beside the outside wall of the house. The weather allowed for a sleeveless shirt type of clothing, and so the party was held beneath a white tent and spilled into the open doors of the house that led into the family’s kitchen. It was a beautiful setting, one that provided for an ease of movement from person to person as the night passed by. It was there, within every conversation, I began to take a tally: Those who BELIEVED in GOD & those who DID NOT BELIEVE God Existed.
How can one know where another resides within his (or her) heart when it comes to the belief in Almighty God? Well, that’s really quite simple because every person reveals it within his words (and maybe within his actions).
As the night moved from the evening of 5pm into the night of 9pm and then into the late night of midnight and then into the wee hours of the morning at 3am, I noticed that every conversation I shared with those gathered revealed the place they resided in their mind when it came to the existence of God. Everyone present had a life-story, one that demonstrated their belief, and I really find that to be really “cool.”
Almighty God allows people to find Him in the midst of living life.
As I moved through the crowd as the evening became night, I heard story-after-story & asked question-after-question. So many stories. So much conversation.
In talking throughout the night with two young men, over and over we returned to the topic of the existence of God.
“How can there be a God,” he said as he flung his arms wide and looked into my eyes. “That whole story in the Bible about Adam and Eve and the snake—it can’t be true,” he said while looking directly at me.
Knowing that he desired a reply, I prepared in my mind, forming what I might say, when another man within our conversation blurted out, “How can you say that. I am not sure what really is out there,” he said as he too flung his arms wide and looked toward the night sky, “but I believe there is a Higher Being—out there. You cannot stand here and say that is not true,” this young man said as he looked more at his friend than at me.
As one who KNOWS GOD & BELIEVES, and as one who has asked Jesus into her heart, often I am amazed that oftentimes the witness that is required of me is more about standing in the moment and less about what I need to speak. People need to see God exists and that we TRULY BELIEVE in our actions, reactions, prayers, life-choices, attitudes, as well as in the words that we speak.
We find God Everywhere because HE EXISTS EVERYWHERE!
- We find God in our struggles, &
- We find God in our moments of awe.
- Not only there, but God is revealed when death knocks on our house door, &
- God is seen when life begins as families are formed and babies are born.
- God revels Himself in all parts of our lives, proving His existence time and again for all people to see.
- God reveals Himself on long hikes up and down the mountainside.
- God reveals Himself in the stillness of the night when we are all alone.
- God reveals Himself when we sit and talk with our children about life and their dreams.
- God reveals Himself in the beauty of the morning’s light and in the setting of the day into night.
- God reveals Himself in the love of Jesus that is shown to someone who does not believe.
- God reveals Himself in the ways He rescues His people from the despair that can often come because of the life-hurts and circumstances we must endure.
- God reveals Himself when people ask us, “Please tell me, Why do you BELIEVE?
- God reveals Himself in so many ways, & sometimes people find God when a BELIEVER prays, asking God to show Himself that they may know God Is God, the ONLY TRUE GOD!
In reading God’s Word, I found myself drawn to the “red words,” the words spoken by God’s Only Son. Jesus knew His time of crucifixion was near as He talked with His disciples. As He prepared them for the day that He knew was to come, his disciples replied, and in their innocent response, they attempted to convince the Son of God that they believed.
See with me God’s Infallible Word.
“His disciples said, ‘Lo, now You are speaking plainly and are not using a figure of speech.
Now we know that You know all things, and have no need for anyone to question You; by this we believe that You came from God.’
Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?”
(John 16: 29-31)
Jesus spoke many things that day when He was preparing His chosen ones, revealing His desire for everyone to truly believe that He is who He says He Is—God’s Only Son!
“Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said,
“Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You,
even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.
This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
(John 17: 1-3)
We invite Jesus into our heart, into our home, and become a new person when we BELIEVE.
Simon Tugwell is credited as saying, “So long as we imagine it is we who have to look for God, we must often lose heart.
But it is the other way about—He is looking for us.”
- Jesus Christ, the Son of God is looking for us!
- How cool is that!
- How amazing is that!
- The real seeker to whether we believe in God is Jesus Himself—God’s Only Son!
- Jesus seeks a relationship with us. &
- When we find that we can see Jesus, it is there in that moment—we see God!
- It is when we believe in God that we discover His Only Son Jesus Christ!
- To know God we find Jesus! &
When we come to the place where we realize we are lost without Jesus Christ, we come face-to-face with a most-amazing Jehovah God!
Yes, truly, this world is filled with two types of people worldwide—Those who BELIEVE in GOD & those who Do NOT BELIEVE God Exists. We must live and move and speak so that we may reveal whether we believe in Jehovah God.
As we do, the ONLY important question—How do we desire for God to move in the presence of people we love and know—who do not believe in Him?
It is quite a miraculous TRUTH—That God loves us (the people of the world) so much that He sent not just an angel or another heavenly being, but HE, Almighty God, sent HIS ONLY SON—That We May Know HIM—the ONLY TRUE GOD!
That They (Every Man, Woman, & Child) May Know GOD—the ONLY TRUE GOD!
